I was thinking she'd do well in Mississippi...

Something like 60% of the Democrats in Mississippi are black. Everyone knew Obama would win, the question is by how much.

A full 15% of voters who said they will be unsatisfied if she gets the nomination voted for Hillary Clinton. In contrast, only 4% of Obama voters say the same about their candidate.

Looking at other exit polls, we see a similar result. In Ohio, for example (which was also an open primary), 12% of those who would be unsatisfied with Clitnon were Clinton supporters, while only 3% of those unsatisfied with an Obama nomination were Obama voters.

Open primaries where Republicans are helping Hillary out would be my guess.

if I'm reading kos right, republicans who vote for Obama are open-minded shining lights exemplifying Obama's crusade for change, while republicans who vote for Hillary are rat bastards marching in lockstep with Rush.

weird how that works out.

I think you are missing the point. Hillary is getting a lot more Republican voters in these open primaries who will not vote for her in the fall. Who gives a shit if they are enlightened or not.

Obama's campaign was touting this as one of the states that they would be able to put into play for the democrats. In fact Miss. was the top one on their list. It's not gonna happen though with this poor performance among whites.

There's a huge bunch of folks living there who, just a scant 40 odd years ago, might have been lynched just for displaying the audacity to show up at a polling place.

Believe me, THEY give a shit about being able to vote, regardless of who it was for.

Your post is one of the most nauseating piles of crap I've ever seen on this forum.

It happened in Ohio too. 12%

I guess you don't care if the Republicans win Ohio too.

My mother and father are conservative republican (religious right, Southern Baptist, etc.)

I called them and asked them to vote for Obama for me, since McCain already has it won. She told me that she received three separate emails from republican sources urging her to vote for Hillary Clinton.

I'd love to know how much this is actually affecting the race. It also makes you wonder what the exit polls mean when they say that Hillary is winning 70% of white voters in Mississippi...how many of those are republicans trying to impact the race? Even if it's only 15%, that's pretty significant - it means that Obama didn't do as poorly as those numbers reflect among white voters who were actually choosing a candidate.

Well, it's quite obvious that HRC doesn't... in fact, I'm pretty sure that 40 out of 50 states are meaningless to her.

If we ever have a decent leader in the country again, it will have to be someone who appreciates, respects, and courts the voters in the entire country.

I know that's a foreign concept to Hillary and her supporters... all they care about is winning, and doing whatever it takes to win, regardless of ethics, principles, or true convictions... the journey, and, in this case the people, are apparently meaningless to them.

bah...

What palehorse74 says here could be better applied to GWB and just about every politician in the country---Well, it's quite obvious that HRC doesn't... in fact, I'm pretty sure that 40 out of 50 states are meaningless to her.

Well, shock and awe, Hillary is tying to win. As a second place, she must try harder.

Its simply baffles me on why there is so much raw hatred of Hillary. To me she is just another pandering politician who pales in comparison to the sheer sleeze employed by GWB&co. As long as Obama is out in front, he can run a image based campaign, but we must all remember that there is little difference between Hillary and Obama on political positions. Some of the political positions taken by both Hillary and Obama disturb me, but when we deal with politicians, we never get even close to perfection. And come the general election, there is a great deal that disturbs me about McCain.

Hopefully, now that there is a 40 day gap until Pennsylvania, Hillary, Obama, and McCain will
recollect that they have a job in the Senate they are playing hookie from in the US Senate. And maybe they will assert some leadership in the Senate and stop some of the ongoing stupidities going on in government. And do something to SHOW why they should be POTUS.

What baffles me is that people keep comparing the candidates on the basis only of the issues and positions while overlooking character. That's why you can't understand the strong opposition to Hillary. In fact, that you (and Hillary supporters) call this political opposition "raw hatred," as though it were only irrational and emotional, it itself telling of Hillary's negative character that causes people to oppose her.
What baffles me is that you can't see this for the immature political sleaze that it is. What's next? Are we either with Hillary or against her? If she becomes POTUS, will we go to war with some country being told that they hate us? If one of her agendas hits a snag (and that will happen, see Murphy's law), will she admit the mistake and adapt it for the good of the people or will she steadfastly refuse to change for ego's sake?
Gee, this all sounds familiar doesn't it?

I'm really starting to hope this thing goes down to the wire and becomes the Coloradan Clusterfuck (tm), if only to give the democrats the kick in the ass they need to seriously reevaluate their primary system and think long and hard about all these proportional allocations and super delegates.

I would get rid of the caucus system. In a a multi-candidate race, I would keep the proportional system of awarding delegates but give a larger bonus for winning the state. Once the race gets down to a two person race, a candidate who wins more than 50% of the vote should get all the delegates. So basically, a winner takes all if one candidates gets more than 50% of the vote.
