best thing is that most of them are putting 360-380 at the rear wheels, which means actual flywheel hp is 420+, not 390 new chip and pulley and 550 isn't hard to get

Too bad the exterior looks like @$$, and you look like a 6 cylinder mustang to all of the "everyday" people.

They hit the lots a few weeks ago. Most dealers charge an addendum over sticker as well.

Most dealers are already sold out here, they are going like hot cakes.

I like that idea so now when your average teen in thier (insert car of choice) trys to race against it the will have to look at the duals first.

I guess its all up to the person buying it.

Well, do you want a heavy straight-line dragger, or an all around nimble performer with luxury amenities with a better interior, exterior looks (IMO), quality build, and reliability?

Nissan ~ Driven

And actually, regarding $/hp, they are both pretty close.
350Z - $26,269/287hp = $91.52 per hp
Cobra - $35,000/390hp = $89.75 per hp

I'd gladly pay a little more per hp for the neee-sahn
I can guarantee a lot less recalls on the Z than on the Ford

Still better than the 10k "fair market fee" they were/are charging for the Thunderbird.

At the end of the day it's how much ass your car kicks. America's highways are mostly straight so the import mad twistiez phenomenon doesn't really matter.

The new Z, from what i read, has a pretty poor interior quality and design... from the magazine articles i've read so far... and its a heavy car (around 3,200) i believe, so while it will handle well, it wont be perfectly nimble.

Well, handling was only 1 of the advantages I stated.
Anyway, who doesn't enjoy a better handling car

Like I said, it's an all around package... your $, your choice.

The magazine article's you've been reading are pre-production vehicles.
Hopefully the final product is better.

3200 lbs. is quite a bit lighter than 3800 lbs., and regardless, if you've been reading those articles thoroughly, you'd know that it handles like a dream.

Damn, this is becoming a Z thread

"During both our public road and private racetrack seat time, we found the Cobra, in either coupe or convertible form, to be the most capable Mustang-badged vehicle we've driven with the possible exception of the 2000 Cobra R version. We should specify that, in terms of pure acceleration numbers and lap times, the two are likely within a couple tenths of a second of one another."

If it handles as well as a Cobra R I think it will do okay in the twisties
