Thanks to the orginator of this thread. I am almost certain now that I will be about $ 500 poorer by the sunset because of this. BTW, I heard dell 1900FP is actually Samsung 191T.
How about 1800FP ? Is it also from Samsung?

1800FP is LG electronics monitor.

I'm not sure if it's LG, but I'm pretty sure it's not Samsung. I haven't seen Samsung 18in LCD currently sold. It's either 17 or 19.

I'm taxed @ Dell Hone cuz I live in Texas. FYI, Round Rock, TX is Dell's HQ and main shipping center, hence the tax and the suck.

how is the monitor better? the response times seem comparable...although i've heard good things about the FP's...is it that the FPs are more sleek? the planar has speakers which i dont like...

That's for the 1860NX 18" LCD which I just order for $468 shipped after tax. God help me now cuz I'm even in more debt now. Hmmm, that puts me around $1,800 in the hole.

I'm not sure if it's LG, but I'm pretty sure it's not Samsung. I haven't seen Samsung 18in LCD currently sold. It's either 17 or 19.

It's a LG and not a Samsung because I have one and so do a lot of others here at AT.

Dell Home charges tax in Texas and Tennessee and some others that they have a sales presence in.

From some of the previous threads on the Dell 18.1 monitor it is a LG. Nice monitor too.

I have both the Dell 1900FP and the Planar PL190M-BK 19, both LCD's have very nice text display. I have not play game on the Planar therefore I don't know how's gaming on it. But Planar does look bulky compared to the 1900FP. One reason the Planar looks bulky is because it has built in speakers.

The new 1901fp will be available next week. Considerable improvements over the 1900fp and a little cheaper, too. Check out review at pcworld and anands review of the samsung 192t which is on the front page.

Remember that the 16ms panels don't display full 24bit color.

Does anyone know anything more about that 19" Planar?? It's such a good deal, if that monitor works well for gaming I'm gonna buy it for sure. Please someone help me out, should I get the Planar or hold out for a better deal on the 1900fp?

in my eyes, you've gotta get below 25ms pixel response times for fps gaming. the 1800fp, which is otherwise a very, very nice monitor (with a 25ms response time), definitely has trouble keeping up with counter-strike.

the 16ms panels are all 17". they are all based on the same AUO panel - so they don't differ all that much. warranty, connections, OSD, etc.

these panels are all 16ms 17" lcds on the AUO panel:

Planar PX171M
NEC 1760NX
ViewSonic VP171B

Hitachi CML174, CML175

The NEC is cheaper, but it doesn't come with a DVI cable.

They all get excellent reviews.

I only looked for panels with DVI, so there are analog only models that I didn't list here. anyhow, the first three are all available from dell home. The hitachi screens can be found at monitors direct for $459/$469 respectively, with free shipping, and no tax outside CA. also, they come with a 3 year advance replacement warranty for $.01. yesterday there was a $40 off coupon for the CML174 = $419

That's my problem. I want a monitor that works well for gaming, but I also want to get the largest display I can afford, which is 19". So I guess I'm just looking for which 19" monitor has the least ghosting. Are they all about the same? Is there one particular 19" model that is better than others?
