A friend of mine was looking at some capacitors he called "mega-capacitors" that were in the thousands of farads (kilofarads!!!). Cool stuff. We can't figure out where to buy them commercially though.

To me, the aerogel material that it used is more amazing than the large capacitance it has. If you recall, Microsoft Xbox is the first to utilize a aerogel caps in the design. Aerogel is normally intended to be used for aerospace project.But now it seems it is more commercial availble than I initially thought of.

I have a friend that would take large 12v and 24v caps, charge them, then toss them to someone as they walked by, saying "catch" needless to say, they received quite a shock. Not sure how effective a 2.5v one would be though.

speaking of capacitors. i sold my 1 farad cap on ebay a few months ago cuzz i got outta car audio. now i just ordered 3 earthquake magma 12"s, and a jbl 1200 watt amp....i need a few farad caps....anyone know where to get em cheap? i want a nice professional one with digital readout. or rackmount type

2.5V rating is too low for me.
I use 5V devices to replace memory backup batteries on circuit boards.

you can series two to get 5V.

I've got you beat. let's just say I'm from the former USSR (baltic region)...and lets say that a certain grandmother got tired of her fuses blowing out so she just put in a piece of metal (meaning circuit ALWAYS closed, so fuses blowing is not an opportunity)....and lets say someone was little and saw those metal things you knit with....and for some reason that someone realized they fit perfectly into the wall socket....so someone decided to stick them in....yeah w00t.
