$1,000 Gaming Rig: Advise

Some guys at Tech-forums.net helped me come up with this build for a new gaming rig. I just wanted to get another opinion before dropping the cash at Newegg. I already have a copy of Win7, mouse/keyboard/optical drive, and monitor. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most helpful.

AVP, thank you great catch! I knew there was a reason I wanted it double checked. How about the rest of the build? Does it look like a good setup? How about this power supply instead.

Looks like a very solid build. Well done.

The only minor issue is that power supply is probably more than you need. You can save some money by going with the Corsair 650W with 80Plus and Active PFC. If you are not going to Crossfire you could go with a 550W.

I am not very PC savvy anymore, but I believe the larger PSU was to allow for a second graphics card in the future or an i7 CPU as prices fall. Do you still feel the 750W maybe over kill?

edit: actually the 750W is just on sale for the same price as the 650W at $109 (no mail in rebate).

You can never buy too much PSU. More than you need now, but too much? never...

You can always reuse it in future builds as well.

Sounds like a green light from you guys on the build. It is mainly for gaming, but it is the family PC as well so some music/surfing/maybe video in the future.

I'm just a bit nervous about not fully understanding the i5 vs the i7.

I know what overclocking is, but that is about it. So I had not planned on it.

in general, do these mobos support both sli and crossfire natively now-a-days through intel's chipset?
