save until you have $3k, then start a Roth IRA at Vanguard and buy the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund.

Yeah....right....no one has any idea if AMD will do well in the near/far future, and $1000 is not enough to buy a good amount of shares that will get you much money in return even if stocks go up 50-100%

I think he may be on to something

HA HA! The kid's out of work, yet he claims he wants to buy $1+ Million worth of stock?
Typical ATOT Investment thread.

(Maybe he is making a parody thread about all the other investment threads all these other Tycoons keep posting?)

Like others have said $1000 isn't much. Maybe start an automatic investment of some sort.

the market is in the process of tanking and is really unstable. all my stocks and funds are lower than they were 6 months ago and are going lower. i'll ride it out, but for you, i'd just put it in a high-yield savings account, wait until you have $2000 or more to invest and the market stabilizes, and then worry about it.

FNBO Direct has a 6% online savings account - it's the highest one at the moment, and the rate is guaranteed until 9/28.
