1.1ghz tbird unlocked? locked?

Got a 1.1ghz tbird here and an abit ktva-raid board

I didn't look at the chip, just popped it in and went. Started playing in bios..

multiplier is set at 11, fsb/pci at 100/33 cpu fsb plus is currently at 7 and it's reading 1177. fine.

when I change the multiplier it comes up as the same speed.

and setting the cpu fsb plus any higher gives me issues.. (IE: 10-16 no windows at all, 8-9 windows protection error)

Does this mean the chip is locked still? I didn't even bother looking because my 1.2 came unlocked so I just figured I'd take my chances without looking.

I just unlocked my chip today ..
I used Locktite Read window refroster repair kit from auto store..
put it on with shaved tooth pick and get a magnafing glass for sure..
Connect the L1 bridges not the L1 to L3 bridges like I did the first time..
Used a razor blade to scrap it off and it worked thought I killed it..

My 1100 was locked. After you unlock it, LMK how high you can push it. I saw a thread at the AMD Zone forums about how many of the 1100's are not that great at OCing. It was too late for me, since I purchased mine before I read the post. I can only do alittle better than 1200 at a straight multiplier OC, and 1170MHz with the multiplier down to 800, and the FSB at 146.

I have my 1.1GHz @ 1275MHz at 1.85v with a Abit KTA-RAID. I only picked it up today so I have much more testing on it.

My 1.1GHz is at 1.3GHz, 12.5x100 @ 1.85

How, might I ask, InsaneMorphius is your CPU runing at 1.3GHz if your running at 12.5x100??

Are you using one of those MSI Pro2A mobos? If so, that explains it!

I have a Abit KT7A-RAID and 12.5 x 100 = 1300MHz for me - reason being 100 is actually 104MHz. Post screen indicates 104MHz x 12.5.

To answer your original question, if you change the multipler but did not get an increase in speed, then the CPU is locked...

For information on how to unlock your CPU, you can go to anandtech, and search for AMD in Overclocking guides... That's where I learned to unlock my 700Mhz too...
