Don't mean to crap your thread or anything, but I've had very bad experiences with sis video chipsets, but for $66 what do you expect?

Well hey, anybody have anything else to say on this? Any good or bad experiences with it? I'm looking to put a cheap system together for my brother, and this looks pretty cheap to me.

THanks

i've had an awesome experiences with these m810lmrs.
they are great for their money.

i used 700 duron at 133@1.84v to get 933.

rock solid stable.

i'd recommend it.

Good find, I'm now considering building a win2000 server or advanced server machine to mess around with and this could be a VERY feasable solution, especially with RAM prices so low.

On the plus side, it has a 4x AGP slot, so you don't have to endure the painfully slow 3D performance of the onboard video if you do decide to play a game of Half Life on it or something.

I have a board almost identical to this except minus the AGP slot and it is Socket 370. These are definitely budget grade boards, but they're good for non-gamers who just want to cruise the net and use Word.

even for games... i've noticed... that as long as you have plenty of ram... installed...
it's playable.

of course... the on-boards graphic card is no where near say radeon ddr 64... but it's more than sufficient for games. i used to play cs on this all the time.

That is a really itty bitty teeny weeny motherboard. Now if it was ATX and an ASUS then I'd be happy.

Sis chipsets do the job...especially in the lower end systems. Not a speed demon, but the 730 and 731 chipset for AMDs are good. Just built a system around that using a duron 750. Gave it away to my girlfriend's grandmother. No problems and the drivers went on flawlessly. Personally, I am waiting for the Sis 735 and NForce chipsets to come out to see which one becomes the best "all in one". So many awesome reviews of both have me psyched.

Edit: Does seem to come in a Micro ATX form factor, and the newest video chipset seems to even support some DVD playback according to the Sis website.

Have to pass on that. Fry's seems to have sub $100 duron 750+ cpu/mlb combo's weekly. Last ad I saw said $69 for a 750 and a shuttle mlb. So as much as I hate Fry's I'd have to go with one of those.

MSI KM133M $80 + $10 shipping @ newegg

FWIW, you can get this mobo for $14 more. This is what you get for your $14:
1)good brand mobo
2)KM133 chipset instead of SIS
KM133 has On-chip S3 Savage4 video
3)3 pci slots (instead of 2)
4) 1 CNR slot (bfd)

You loose the AMR slot & AMR modem (bfd)

Good luck.

The best part of the SIS chipset is the built in NIC. So you spend an extra $14 and you get less.

Just my experences, I've been using this board since it's release for office desktops with no problems. Sound quality is not the best. If you are thinking of adding video card check compatability before you buy. Actually I've replaced more abit boards than pc chips. If your going to need tech support pc chips is not the board for you. Anyway goodluck in whatever you build.

I wouldn't buy another sis mobo. I had plenty of problems with the two that I bought from Fry's.

just my 102 cents.

only two pci slots... it has all that integrated junk so you might not need them, but then again, they're good to have.

Don't judge SiS yet. Head over to tomshardware.com and check out the reviews about the new chipset SiS 735 coming out soon or out already I think. It beats, VIA, AMD, Intel, Ali. Yeah how about that???
