I know the post regarding the 1.4 Athlons are getting tedious, but I have a specific question I need help with.
I have a 1.4 Athlon with ECS K7S5A board and enlight 7237 case (300W). I have experience many random lock-ups and graphics problems when running at 133 MHz FSB. This resolves when I run it sugnificantly underclocked on the 100 FSB. I tried many things, to include BIOS, Driver and OS upgrades/installs wihtout help. I did notice these probelems seemed to resolve with the case open, with my CPU temp around 41C. When the CPU temp climbs to around 50C, the problems reappear.
I fairly convinced this is a "heat" related issue, however, in most of the posts I've read 50C should be no problem. My guess is my power supply cannot keep up with the increased demands of the CPU at that temperature.
Before I buy a new power supply, I just wanted to be sure I was interpreting this correctly. Basically, an open case just won't fly with my significant other. Also, I have a SVC Golden Gate 40, and the 8000 RPM fan sounds like a small jet engine. I may chnage to a 60-80mm fan converter.
Any comments or suggestions. Thanks.
