i was just wondering if the epox is the only kt266a motherboard with these 1/5 and 1/6 pci dividers ??
i wanted to get some of that ddr2700 kingmax stuff with 5ns chips (200mhz) and run myself a nice 200mhz fsb
any boards with the kt266a chipset that can run the mem and fsb at 200 while keeping the pci in spec ????

the article on anandtechs main page (the new kt266a roundup) has some good info on that

the short answer is "no" epox isnt the only board with the higher pci dividers

yeah i saw that the epox had the ability to use the 1/5 and 1/6 dividers but it didn't say anything about any of the other kt266a boards being able to do such a thing i was just wondering if it was the hardware (design of the motherboard) that made boards not able to use the higher dividers or if it is just the bios ????
i would like to get the new abit motherboard but it doesn't seem like it has any higher dividers and i would like to run a fsb of 200 with some good pc2700 memory
do you think the kt333 chipset will have higher dividers when implemented on boards next month or whenever it comes out ???

ohh i read it right

The BIOS, with release date 11/30/2001, provides the ability for you to practically push the FSB of the board to over 200MHz, which has been confirmed by a lot of sources. This is made possible by two very important features by EPoX, the 1/5 and 1/6 PCI bus divider and also the 100/133 memory bus divider. With these two settings, you can be running your FSB at 200MHz while maintaining the memory and PCI buses at 150MHz and 33MHz respectively. The memory could be compensated by the new PC2400 or PC2700 parts, and the PCI bus is still within spec.

i was just wondering if the same was true or could be true for other kt266a mb's

I have never heard of such a thing with other KT266A mobos. However, the new ALi MAGiK rev. C chipset based board support features like this.

There is no 1/5 or 1/6 divider on the Epox 8KHA+, unfortunately. However, there's a rumour the Gigabyte has it.

Despite what Anandtech said I am doubtful whether the 1/5 and 1/6 dividers kick in on the Epox 8KHA+. I can run mine at 180FSB but notice it is not too stable - things get really snappy in Windows and some instability happens after a few minutes - leading me to believe it is the HW crapping out (memory is fine since it runs at 135FSB).

panhead49: what is your source of info?

the article clearly states that the 8kha+ has pci bus dividers you can be running your FSB at 200MHz while maintaining the memory and PCI buses at 150MHz and 33MHz respectively.

im not saying the article is right or wrong... im only saying ill take mike andrawes info over yours unless you can show something to back it up

as a side note the article also says it not using an office epox bios. it seems the official ones dont have the pci bus dividers.

WTF!!

Someone that owns an 8kha+ board must be able to confirm if the dividers are functional or not!!!

there are alot of us that run this board.......the problem is that the bios does not have a setting for the dividers like say the xp333 from iwill......it (the right divider) is rumored to " kick in at the right fsb setting,.. say 166
there is only a setting in the newer bios ...that you can run your memory at 3/4 of fsb speed...so you can run higher without your memory holding you back
the only proof would be an ossilascope......

ok.. thanx panhead.. but someone must have some sensetive harddrives or something like that that won't work @ 41.5 mhz pci speed that it could be tested with.
