1.7V default for a Celery 566?

Is this right? I thought 1.5V was the default voltage for these chips. But I'm holding it in my hand, and it has 1.7V on the sticker. S-code is SL4PC.

Never heard of a cCO 566, but you have one. You could go to the Intel site and check the S Spec's, but I believe that all 1.7 volt P3's and Cel2's are cCO's.

I got a retail that was packed in November and its cC0 (1.7V). It overclockers better than my cB0 C2566. I wish, they release 533a's with cC0. it might be possible to run it at 133 Mhz FSB. Now that would be awesome.

Your wish may come true. Page 23 of the Celeron data sheet lists a 1.7 volt (cc0) stepping processor against the 533A.

Mine was 1.5. I don't see the logic that intel put into using 1.7votls!

Well after playing around with the chip I think I see the logic behind it. It probably needs every bit of the 1.7V just to run at the default speed. It was all I could do just to get it to post at 850 at 1.95V. It was in a machine with no HD so I couldn't test stability, but that much voltage is too high for my tastes anyway. Maybe I just got a bad one, there are a few with this S-spec listed on the overclockers database that seem to be doing very well at default voltage. Bah.

Maybe the chip just won't do a gig! My Cco 600 runs 900 effortlessly at 1.65 volts on my MSI-6309, but wouldn't even post at 110 MHz fsb. I didn't even get to try to increase the voltage and since I am very happy at a stable 900 Mhz, I think my processor and I will just stay cool right there.

Gonad, are you using a slotket? I had a Tekram slotket which was made for the fc-pga chips which wouldn't let my cc0 566 play at 850. I replaced it with a MSI-6905 Rev 2.3 and now it will play Q3 at 972.

My cC0 566 runs fine at 850 Mhz @1.7V. It even runs at a 1000Mhz at @1.8V and even boots into windows at 1050Mhz @1.9V but crashes quickly. I think I can get 124Mhz FSB on this guy if I get a better heatsink. I"m using the stand hsf currently.

BTW, all cC0 runs at 1.7V I believe, even the P3's. I think they increased the voltage to 1.7V keep all the cumine cores the same. They were accused of selling overclocked chips when their higher speed chips had highe default voltage requirements.

I got one of these RETAIL 1.7v Celeron 566 just before Christmas. Matched to my AOpen AX6B and AOpen FC-PGA Converter Card it runs all day without any problems at 875mhz using the 103mhz bus speed. Tried 112mhz bus (the smallest jump I could make) and it failed to post, so I backed down to 103mhz.

NOTE: This was at the default 1.7v - haven't even attempted to bump the voltage up, nor will I as long as it's stable at 875.

One thing to note however. Even at this speed most games will only benchmark to about the level of a 600-700 P3, so that was a bummer. However, I ONLY PAID $71 FOR THE RETAIL CPU at buy.com.

Overall, very happy!

Well I was using an Iwill Slocket II initially. Swapped that with an Abit Slocket III and bam, 850 at default voltage. Didn't think the slocket would have made such a difference. Pushed it a little more and got it booting at 952 @ 1.8V. Kick ass! I need to get a HD in this thing so I can test stability and actually start enjoying this puppy. Yay, I am a happy boy now.

I think the slotket has to have its own voltage regulation to work right with the fc-pga processors.

my cc0 celery 600 runs fine at 901 Mhz (I needed to bump the voltage to 1.75 using MSI 6905) I am using only the retail heat sink and fan though...mobo is Tyan tiger s1854..

Well dammit, I'm getting registry errors at Windows startup at anything above 765 mhz. And it's not the RAM, it's sporting a couple of Mushkin sticks I've had up to a 145 mhz fsb.
