$1.95 domains at internetco.com?

I received a spam message that that claimed $1.95 domain regsistration at www.internetco.com.

I looked around for any information about these people, but mostly found web hosting info.

Has anyone tried this? I'm guessing they want you to pay for their hosting service.

If it's for real, it's a hot deal.

If you go strictly by price only, yes, I think so, or at least I haven't seen any cheaper (for quantity 1). There are a few at around $10-$12 though.

Go Daddy is good, but they charge $8.95 + $5.95 for forwarding and masking. www.dotearth.com charges about $12 per year with forwarding included. If you required forwarding, GoDaddy may not be the best choice, if it's a bare-bones registration you're after, GoDaddy will be the cheapest around. They're both reliable, I've used both companies for the last three years, no problems.

Beware of shadier registration services offering better pricing, these prices are so cheap, it's not worth it to skimp and risk having your site go down because they went out of business on you.

I like namecheap.com... $8.xx like GoDaddy, but with all the DNS service included (email/web forwarding/etc.). No problems so far...

I use dotster myself. They were the cheapest at one time. Now the fee is $14.95 for new registrations, $8.95 transfers (and a year fee of $14.95 as well.)

I originally went through mydomain.com and they register you through namesdirect for $15 a year (mine was 2 year minimum). mydomain didn't charge for forwarding or masking when I was with them about a year ago, and I don't believe they do now. You get 1-2 emails from them a month, some of it is good information; they sent me a renewal notice for $12 a year, and I jumped on that.

I use, believe it or not, cheap-domain-name-registrar.com. $9.95. Online DNS interface, e-mail forwarding, etc.. I have 6 domains through them, never had a problem.. ever.

I use cheapestregistry.com. They just resell them from someone else who I forgot, but 8.75 is the cheapest I have ever seen. They also offer all DNS and everything for free. You can manage your domain from http://dcso.org. From this webpage you can change your contact information, nameservers, and password to modify your domain. You can have unlimited subdomains, and unlimited email forwarding. (Well at least over 25 as I have 27 on one). They have catch all forwarding for domains, and email. They support the following record types: A (Address), MXE (Mail Easy), MX (Mail),
CNAME (Alias), URL Redirect, and URL Frame . I have five domains with them, and one I have had for about 4 years. (I bought some from other middle man for a little bit more...but cheapestregistry is just a web API to interface with the sub big dog reseller database. So this way you don't pay much, but you get great service and reliablity.

Yeah I have been VERY impressed w/ namecheap.com several reasons:

1. They DO NOT SELL ANY ADDITIONAL CRAP, yes that is very important to me. I went to register w/ godaddy or doster I forget which and half of the "registration" questions were atempts at upsells. Namecheap only offers domain registry and do not try and upsell at all, at least when I registered.

2. They were able to trandfer my existing domain very smoothly, the other registrar I tried before them was uanble to transfer the domain for some unknown reason.

3. FREE DNS services so FREE e-mail forwarding, web redirest, etc. all built into the interface so no third party services or have to pay.

4. Simple CLEAN interface compare between dotster, godaddy, etc.

Sorry to rant, but for $8.88 a year w/ NO HASTLES or attempts to sell vrap I do not want or need I think is a very hot deal. You could pay more for less with other registrars or pay the same, but get bombarded w/ upsell offers or other hastles.

I finally switched to NameCheap.com. Costs a few cents per year more, but includes free unlimited email forwarding with a catch-all option. (For example, if my primary email account is 903892373987@comcast.net, and I register mike7domain.com at NameCheap.com, I can choose to have any email sent to <anything>@mike7domain.com automagically forwarded to 903892373987@comcast.net. Trust me, it's handy. And in essence, it gives me an unlimited number of email accounts.)

When I used GoDaddy.com, I was able to accomplish pretty much the same thing by using ZoneEdit.com's free services. ZoneEdit's great, but I'd just as soon rely on my registrar, as rely on my registrar + ZoneEdit.com. Plus, NameCheap.com has a few other features (for example, hosting of a very basic website is included) which GoDaddy.com either lacked or for which it charged extra. Nothing major, but there you have it.

A friend of mine uses Register.com. Much more expensive than the alternatives, but when asked why he doesn't switch, he just shrugs his shoulders and says, "I don't know." He started with them, and like all too many people, he'd rather pay 2-3x the price of some other registrar, than go to the "bother" of changing. ("Bother" amounts to about 2 minutes online, then waiting 36 hours for the changes to be propagated.) Proof that the business philosophy of "Sign 'em up first, and they're yours forever," has some truth to it.

Actually, Godaddy is now slightly more expensive than Namecheap. I've been using Godaddy for a little over a year now, and they've been great. But free DNS and unlimited email forwarding for a lower price? Gonna give Namecheap a try when it's time to renew.

If you take advantage of the fact that u can use mydomain.com for free, ad freee simply by signing up and then changing ur name servers, u shouldnt have to rely on ur registar

Yes. I imagine the services mydomain.com provides for free are similar to those provided for free by ZoneEdit.com, which I mentioned. But I can't see any great advantage in using a registrar + mydomain.com, or a registrar + ZoneEdit.com, rather than just a registrar.
