For that price why not just a 6gb Archos player or an older Nomad. Not trying to poop in your thread, I would like to know why this on is better?

B/C the Microdrive is word around $230 by itself.
The MP3 player is word about $80.

You're paying $200 for $310 worth of stuff. Sell it on eBay...that's what I'm gonna do.

Just FYI---

The player is a factory refurb. Uses a lithium-ion battery pack (doesn't say if this is user-replaceable) and charges in 3 hours with included charger. They claim a battery life of over 12 hours.

This is a good deal if you're interested in the 1 gig microdrive. However if you're buying this because you are interested in an mp3 player you can buy a 5 gig ipod of on eBay for about the same price. I've seen the 5 gig ipod sell on eBay for as low as $170.

Before you ebay, think. You have to pay ebay fees, paypal fees (if you use them) and shipping on this thing. You are selling a used MD. Check out thepast auctions of the MXP and the MD. You'd be very fortunate to clear anything.

Most of us here aren't newbies. I sell plenty of stuff on eBay. I make up for my listing/PayPal fees with shipping and insurance.

I am an ebay pro, made a fortune on the SEARS zip drive debacle/Value America/Mercata in 2000 and would not count on this to be a money maker. You MIGHT make $20? I might be getting old, what would you expect to sell this for? Give it a shot and I'll eat my words. On second thought...you might do OK, maybe $40?

I don't know about you, but I consider $40+ profit good for a college kid

Hell, I got in on the $75 stackable coupon deal at Amazon on Linksys product last week. I got a wireless router and a wireless accesspoint for a total of $159 shipped. I sold the router for $117.50 and the accesspoint for $100. I charged $12.50 shipping for both, but it only cost me $7.07 to ship each one. The profit from the shipping pretty much covered my eBay and PayPal/Billpoint fees so we're talking $59 profit.

I don't buy something for resale on eBay unless I can make a decent amount off it.

I've been on ebay a pretty long time(since 99) but I didn't know about these hot deals places back then =P or I'd probably be a lot richer than my poor ass is right now, nonetheless I've made so so money on ebay over time, enough so that even though I couldn't find a summer job last summer, I still have some spending money this year...anyway, if you have any ebay tips and ideas please let me know, I'm not asking to steal your item ideas or anything, just general tips and stuff. My stupid friend actually stole my source on an item, so he's never getting jack sh!t from me ever again lol...

I've made some good money selling toys actually...but usually I just sell tech stuff I get cheap off of these deals.

Well, I think timing is everything. I could not do what I did then now. In six months I made a ton of money, from places like Mercata and ValueAmerica. I had great credit and 7 credit cards with a $250,000 aggregate limit that was maxed out during the VA days. But try that today, there are very few great deals. The bubble has burst and the market is tighter. Look at the people that jumped on this deal, then go to the search function on ebay fro past aucitons and figure out exactly what they made. DO this for the dell deals and you'll see that very few people made that much money.

I was considering doing hte dell deals, but jesus, ebay fees and paypal fees wreck the profit margin. I tracked 50 people who were selling Dell flatscreens and only 10 of them even broke even after taxes, paypal fees, ebay fees etc., you did have the oddball that wanted $60 shipping for a flatscreen, but even so, the margins were quite slim. The search/completed auctions function on ebay really pulls the clothes off the braggart. It also lets you know roughly what you can expect.

Uh, for those of you actually considering USING the product, I would think its benefit over the nomad/archos players is its small size. 1 gig is enough music for at least 5+ hours... surely that's enough variety for any one moment in time.

Ugh... I hate it when these OLD DEAD DEALS get resurrected from the grave. What makes it even worse is that it happened from an OT post! :frown:
