1 gig Athlon shows as 750 on A7V133?

I had a similar problem earlier. I hve just bought a 1 gig Athlon with an Epox mb. It showed it running at 1 gig. Had problems though with the mb in connecting all my add ons. Changed the mb to a A7V133 but showing it running at 750. Do I need to set the jumpers to manual and then set fsb to 133 and 7.5x multiplier. What are the best settings for o/c to and what core temp to rum at. I play mostly 3d games. Have tried to o/c but keeps stalling?

download the newest bios (athlonmb.com) after that if its still wrong go into your bios and make sure the ram is running at 133mhz bus and not a 100 , cause a 100mhz bus times 7.5 is 750 , a 133mhz bus time 7.5 is 1000. that is most likely your problem

I had this exact same problem 4 days ago. Just go into the bios and change your fsb to 133. That will put your 1000 mhz at the correct speed. For some reason, the Asus bios likes to default to 100 fsb.

I tried that but it stalled. Do I need to change the jumper settings to user defined on the mb before i go in and change the bios? Also, what will it be most stable at?

hmmm are you sure your ram is 133mhz ? and do you have proper cooling , that could be a problem

Well, I hope so. It says 133 ram but in Hong Kong you are never sure. I also bought a copper cooling fan which should do the trick. What is the max I could change the multiplier to?

You don't have to touch the jumpers. It has jumpers, but the factory default is set for ease to use as a jumperless board. Leave the multiplier where it is. Just change the fsb.

As for the RAM, I am running 2 128mb chips of CRucial sdram PC100 at 133 mhz. I am also running 1 128mb chip of nvram ay 133 mhz. That is according to the bios.

max multiplier for your mobo is 12,5(if i could remember correctly)
max FSB is 167

about your problem :
did you change your multiplier too when it stalled ???
if you did then your processor is multiplier locked.(you have to unlock it using the pencil trick on the L1 bridges)

-you don't have to set the jumpers(just like everybody said before) the default mode for the ASUS mobos are JumperFree
-try to set the multplier to 7,5x133=1000
-if you try to change the multiplier with a factory locked mult proc then it would surely hangs

btw:i got the same mobo/cpu combination as yours

I will give it a go after work tonight. You lost me on the "pencil trick on the L1 bridges". Please explain?

Side note: Have you o/c your rig? If you have what to and what are the settings.

Dimzie..if you update the bios a 13-14x multiplier is now available and fsb goes to 200...though I doubt the A7V133 will get anywhere close to that
