1 or 2 HD's for Win2K/Linux dual boot?

I did a search on the forum and found some tips on how to do the install, but not a lot on whether there is any difference between using two drives or partitioning a large drive. Anyone have any input? I am interested in which is more stable and which provides any performance difference, if at all. Let me know your thoughts as well as any experiences with dual booting. Thanks.

I tried in the RH 7.0 days to do a dual on my 27G drive but had lots of partition problems, probably my fault tho. If you're using an older distro or LILO (supposedly GRUB fixes it) then you have to put linux below 8G. I'd just pick up another drive if you have the means. Very easy that way, less chance of hose-ups.

And besides, who can't use more space?

I have had both configurations before and if you aren't comfortable with partitioning, then having a second hard drive is easier to work with when installing or removing linux... Plus, an extra hard drive does have its benefits (more space, redundacy) if you have the $.

LILO's 8GB (1024th cylinder) problem was fixed a while back (fixed in 21.3?; now at 22.x), so that shouldn't be a problem anymore.
