it's not too difficult if you're familiar with your cups (ie: I know from experience that if I fill up one of the large glasses in the kitchen with an inch of space on top, that's about a 10 oz drink)

It makes sense, but I find it rare to be doing it with water and on a strict time schedule like that. I have a 32oz nalgene that I fill a few times a day at work. I could tell you I drink ~96oz of water a day at work... but that could vary both ways depending on a lot of things. I just don't do this because I don't see the point of watching water intake I guess. I have always been a big water drinker... even as a kid. I probably have 2 liters of soda a year - and that's likely to come from alcoholic beverages.
