generally speaking, how much more does one need to spend to get a complete watercooling system?

the average system isnt all that much. i could build one with that block for around 100.00
i love water cooling and have a very top end water cooling system and i spent around 200

Well im currently considering Evercool WC202 for a bit less than a hundred which comes with both CPU & GPU cooler. Whilte it may not be comparable to a standalone setup but it is quite and relatively cool.
Could you recommend other components that you would use in the average system u mentioned that would go for $100 with this block?

can you elaborate? im curious as to what top end watercooling you can put together for 200...

just for kicks too, how about piecing out the 100 while ur at it

*D5 / MCP655 pump = 80 (very good top end pump)
*Waterblock (this one) = 40 (top end block)
*Hoses (10 feet) / clamps = $15-$20 (clear flex)
*Heatercore (120x2 or dual heatercore, single's don't perform as well) just get one from autozone or a black ice for around 30-40
*Couple good fans (Sanyo Denkis) ~20

so your total is

~$195 and this would give you a pretty high end watercooling system.

any results would be +/- 2 degree differences. Your ambient temperture in your room will have an overall effect on watercooling more than anything else.

i was talking about the results released from swiftech on it.
i wouldnt even look at results done from my computer.

yeah i know I was just trying to inform people didnt know, most just think by replacing a waterblock will yeild a -5 to 10c drop in temperature.

What about a $100 watercooling system?

What about a $100 watercooling system?

Probably should just get a thermaltake big typhoon if your going that low end.

100.00 system

40.00 apogee block
heatercore autostore or maybe used 20.00
pump ehiem 1048 or the 12XX 25.00 ebay
120mm fan 6.00
clearflex 9.00 you may need a stretcher for it.
100.00 is pretty tough with a 40.00 block but 120.00 would have room to spare probably.

My Apogee arrived yesterday, nicely packaged. Jab-Tech has earned a top reseller rating from me!

Now I have to choose a chipset block and a pump. DangerDen has a chipset block specifically for the A8N-SLI, but I don't know if it would work on a different mobo if I later switch. Anyone know?

for 39.99 the Apogee is a pretty decent deal. Just be warned that based on the design, the Apogee is the revision to Swiftech's 6002 series and not an upgrade to the Storm block. The Storm should blow this block away but Swiftech is pushing the Apogee since its their own design and they dont have to pay licensing fees as with the Storm. I guess we will have to wait for some real independent testing....

if you've done your reading like i have, its all speculative until independent testing is done. also it is dependent on whether you are cooling a small or large die (for example, ihs off or on)

That's true and It's doubtful it's even much better than MCW6000/6002, which i consider the best of all time due to soldered together all copper and zero chance of leaking.
