Winter Storm to Extend Through the Weekend

DENVER --
The snow isn't over yet. It's not even close to ending. In fact, look for snow to keep falling with NO real breaks in sight until Sunday. A blizzard warning is now up for Colorado's eastern plains
At least 12" of snow was on the ground in Denver by Friday morning., and 2 feet or more was on the ground in the foothills and mountains just west of Denver.
Fox 31's Weather Team says there is much more heavy snow that will fall on metro Denver, the foothills, mountains and eastern plains. Stronger wind will become more of an issue, particularly in eastern Colorado.
Governor Bill Owens declared a statewide disaster emergency as the snow started to fall Thursday.

Today: Periods of snow with areas of blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Temperature falling to around 20 by 5pm. Blustery, with a north wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Tonight: Periods of snow with areas of blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Steady temperature around 19. North northwest wind between 8 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Saturday: Periods of snow with areas of blowing snow. High near 27. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 9 to 12 mph increasing to between 18 and 21 mph. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Saturday Night: Snow likely with areas of blowing snow. Cloudy, with a low around 15. Wind chill values between -2 and 8. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 19 and 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
Sunday: Snow likely with areas of blowing snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Blustery, with a north wind between 19 and 22 mph becoming calm. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

On Friday morning, United Airlines had cancelled 125 flights, Frontier Airlines cancelled 66 flights, Northwest cancelled three, Delta cancelled three and Southwest cancelled four flights. Northwest and Delta showed their remaining flights were on time.
