I guess we're slacking...or TheDiggler is on vacation.

There are $30 off $150, $40 off $250 and $50 off $250 coupons out there. Just do a Google and you'll find a site that has them all listed. Most expire next week.

The freebies:

14267161 Cyber Acoustics 2-Piece Speaker System $9.00 - $9.00 MIR = $0
20154235 Spin-X 50-Pack CD-R $10.00 - $10.00 MIR = $0
20148289 Best Data v.92 PCI Internal Data/Fax Modem $10.00 - $10.00 MIR = $0
20232776 Belkin 100-Pack Slim Jewel Cases $8.00 - $8.00 MIR = $0
20200729 Fellowes 100-CD Wood Rack $7.00 - $7.00 MIR = 0
20329985 Mad Dog MultiMedia Predator 5.1 DSP Sound Card $29.99 - $30.00 MIR = -$0.01

20396402 Fellowes Body Glove Cell Phone Starter Kit with Bonus CD Case $15.00 - $15.00 MIR = $0

There are a couple of other FAR items, including the always-available RCA Universal remote.

Useful items:

20508675 Western Digital 80GB External USB2.0 Hard Drive $139.98 - $30 Mfg MIR - $10 OMAX MIR = $99.98
20329173 Mad Dog MultiMedia 52x24x52 Internal CD-RW Drive $29.98 - $10 MIR = $19.98
20033642 Kingston 256MB SDRAM PC133 Memory $39.98 - $15 MIR = $24.98
20156867 GE 2-7935GE3 2.4GHz 2-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID $39.98 (special price)

My purchase consisted of all of the freebies, plus the WD external 80 gig HDD - $50 coupon to end up at a price of about $53 AC/AR + tax + postage for everything (about $69). Everything else makes good stocking stuffers or office gifts for the Holidays.

Joe

P.S.

Everything is available at your B&M store as well, but no online coupons apply. If you don't get Officemax B&M coupons in the regular mail, sign up when you use an online coupon. You'll frequently get a $10 off $50 and sometimes a $20 off $100 that works online and/or B&M.

P.P.S.

In case you don't know, Boise Cascade (commercial office products provider) is just about finished buying/merging with Officemax. No one knows how this is going to effect Officemax yet, but since BC is grossly overpriced, I would expect an eventual end to these FAR and high-value coupon deals.

Don't forget, however, that competition between, OfficeMax, Office Depot, and Staples is fierce. The tendency of competition to drive down prices cannot be underestimated.

Edit: Has OMax redone their rebate system satisfactorily? I'm still waiting on a $6 rebate from Fuji CD's I bought in July.

they seem to be paying up on their rebates recently...although I haven't gone and backchecked all the rebates they owe yet. However, I did received a bunch of them, and they DID pay Cendyne's owed $30 rebate for them after they went belly up...(included at the bottom of the rebate was a little note about how OfficeMax had decided to take over payments). So, I think it's better than before.

A note on the 2.4Ghz phone: very rarely, Omax has a FAR $10 - $10 2.4GHz with caller ID phone. I'm not sure of the brand, but if you can wait, why not stack up and use the coupon on something else?

That didn't take long.

They'll probably have them back in stock Wednesday or Thursday.

I think that's their stupid system. I was trying to order a camera, and the system would give me that message repeatedly. Then I typed the item number in "order by item # or SKU" (something like that) in upper right corner, and it went through.

Still, regularly some of the FAR items are in-store only.

The brand for the free 2.4GHz phone would be either Bell something or Curtis. during the year and a half I worked as an Electronics person at my local OMax, those phones were the most common returns. Most common complaints: wouldn't hold charge for more than a few hours standby, lots of static at about 50-75 feet from base, unreliable CallerID. My reccomendation to all customers then was always, spend another $20 and get a good phone and save your time returning the other one and purchasing a good one. Nobody tended to care. None of them ever doubted me again.

I had one of those Curtis OM phones for about a week. Never again. Take Kai's advice and don't make the same mistake I made.

The first one I picked up didn't work. The second one had really bad reception (my 900MHz one was much, much clearer). That was the end of that.

IIRC, V-Tech phones are quite nice for the price.
