I always laugh at people paying 3 gazillion dollars for digital cables and then claiming to see a image quality difference. sure the cables might be a little better constructed to resist wear and tear... but If I can buy ten as little as 25 bucks... I can replace the cable once a year ( hell in some cases once a month) and still save money.

The best HDMI cables I have found on line are from Monoprice...And the 6 ft ones are cheap around $4...I bought ones similar to those shown in this post and they were problematic...The Monoprice cables have a fat round bulge on the cable about 3 inches away from the connector. The ones that didn't work well did not have this bulge. The following cut and paste link should take you there.

They are called filters. Any long piece of wire will act as an antenna, which is undesirable as noise will be pulled in from ambient. Those ferrite core filters will stop some of that noise.

Great Find. I just gave my last 2 HDMI's to my nephews as they both have XBOX 360's and got 32" LCD's for Xmas so they both needed HDMI's.

The following is not bashing the OP but the Monster Cable post.......

Please don't post what you can't prove. Until you can A/B these cables in a controlled situation with multiple cables being tested not just one. The statements you make about Monster cables and other overly designed products are unfounded.

The only thing Monster Cable does do well is make a quality component at an Inflated price.

My bottom line about HDMI is as follows:

1. Will they induce or deter unwanted noise.? (Won't know until you get them home as every home is different)

2. Do they have the design to carry enough bandwidth to your components.? (Since these are 1.3b compliant. They have more than enough bandwidth to tackle 1080p and Dolby True HD simultaneously)

3. Even gold plated connectors aren't needed. (Ever check the jack you are plugging into?)

Seems like a cheap enough alternative but I wonder about signal loss or degradation plus it's one more small adapter that I have to keep track of.
Over the years, I have bought, lost, found, lost again and then re-bought so many small adapters of all manner that I'm a little leery just for that reason.

I just looked a little closer and realized that it's the wrong gender anyway. I would need a male miniHDMI to female HDMI adapter to us the standard HDMI cable.

One of them is "Mini HDMI Male to HDMI Female Adapter". I also have no idea about signal loss.

Since its so cheap and the length is short it maybe alright but I prefer the cheapies be awg 28 anyway.

HDMI is a digital point to point cable, not analog. Either the signal gets from the source to the destination or it doesn't. This is not like the Ethernet protocol where packets are sent in multiple directions that can result in dropped packets if a router or switch is swamped somewhere along the way.

The only way you would end up with a crappy picture is though signal artifact, which is a broken cable with broken conductors, connectors or the like.

In reality, a ferrite core filter isn't going to effect the signal itself to an appreciable degree. If the noise level is really bad, the signal will be totally lost, but you would probably have to run a 6' cable though a microwave to get to that point.

I have about 4 of these monoprice cables. I like 'em a lot, but the only problem I've experienced is that I have a lot of tight space to hook up my components, and the thick monoprice cables don't do so well when rounding tight corners, especially with the preposterously weak connection that is the HDMI interface. someone needs to stick some metal tabs on them already.

I use monoprice cables on all my tvs and projo as well. When looking at hdmi spec there are only two kinds of cables. Low speed which operates at 4.2 gbps or high speed which operates at above 10.2. If a cable is 1.3 rated then it operates above 10.2....
