HostPC is having a tenth birthday sale. $10 per year economy web hosting plan or $10 off the Business or Budget Hosting plans.

I use their budget package for my site, and I'm quite happy with them. I've been with them for over two years now.

Here are the hosting account details

* 1,500Mb Web space (1.5 Gigabytes!)
* 15Gb Data Transfer
* 100 POP3/IMAP Mailboxes
* Sorry, CGI access not available on this plan
* Installatron - Easy Script Installer
* UNLIMITED Addon Domains
* Easy AntiSpam Protection (EAS)

What, that's not enough? OK, how about $10 off (annual price) of our Business or Budget Hosting! Use Coupon Code: bigten when ordering.

Link to deal

If anyone is feeling generous, you can find a referral link to HostPC on my site. (Please inform if this kind of statement is frowned upon on the Hot Deals forums, and I'll edit it out. I didn't see anything in the rules about it, but I'd like to be sure. Thanks.)

thanks for posting this. i'm gonna wait and see if anyone has anything to say on the reliability of hostpc, and if it looks good, transfer my domains there.

i'm getting sick of netfirms. i dont use anywhere near enough space or transfer to justify even their lowest plan

As far as I know HostPC is not bad.
They purchased my previous host when she decided to fall out of existence (CredibleHost.)
Unfortunately they use DirectAdmin instead of cPanel, and they ban the use of phpBB. Both are personal preference for me, but it was enough for me to jump ship and look elsewhere.

Other than that though, the guys running it are fine, and are quick to answer questions - at least they were during the merger transition.
Just a word of warning though, most hosts that give you ridiculous amounts of storage/bandwidth for pennies a month are overselling - they will have clauses in their TOS that try to prevent you from using all of it. I'm looking at you, DreamHost. Remember to read this carefully before signing up.

WebHostingTalk.com is a good place to find information about this stuff, I've been a member there for close to 5 years now - lots of reviews available for many hosting companies.

Great deal....but, i don't have enough fingers to count the number of these I've used over the years that went belly up.

I love HostPC for cheap hosting. Fast server that is up virtually all the time.

Anyone know how fast upload speeds are? I used Netfirms and they sucked ass.

I don't think that is true, atleast now. I got an account(this 10 dollar deal) and under the installatron, phpBB is an option to install.

I have 2 domains on HostPC, awesome. Super cheap and they've responded to the few email questions I had real fast. I've never used cPanel, but Installtron seems pretty decent. I recommend these guys highly.

Sounds like a great deal. I'll be starting my own website soon and have been out of the game for awhile. I'll be using Dreamweaver CS4 to build my site, and I'm guessing I won't have a problem connecting and uploading, regardless of the host that I have???

Dreamweaver supports xfer thru FTP so any hosting place you go with will work fine. I use DW CS2 and it syncs my site very quickly with my host on HOSTPC.

I tried to sign up with them, using all my information. My address, my credit card everything. They say there are too many "fraud marks" on my signing up. Which makes less than no sense to me.

I offered to fax over a copy of my credit card, drivers lisence and a bill with my name and addresss on it, to which I was just told "We don't want to take the risk."

I don't see any risk here, if all the information matches why wouldn't you let someone sign up for hosting?

It took me 3 days after trying to sign up to finally actually get to talk to Joe about it and that is what he told me.

I would like to thank them for being less than helpful.

phpBB WAS banned - but that was what, 3-4 years ago ... since they stabilized their releases, there hasn't been a problem. Many of our users are using phpBB.

As for the "fraud order" mentioned above, our credit card company marks each on a particular score - IP address of the order, distance from order location to billing location, previous history with a particular card or card holder and many other scores. Not all are guaranteed by our CC company - if they mark it as fraud, 99.99% of the time, it IS fraud, especially when there's more than 8000 miles separating the order IP from the billing IP. We can override certain things, and have on a couple of occasions, but there were several factors with a couple orders that forced us to reject the order. In 10 years, I think we've categorically rejected less than 25 orders. Sorry we weren't able to provide you services, but we have guidelines we follow.

waitman - all our servers are connected to a (minimum) 100gb backbone - we've never had complaints on upload speeds.

Yes I did, because I'm lazy. lol I wanted 2 domains and they had both registered and up and going quickly. And the one problem I did have with one domain at first, they corrected it after a single email. I haven't had to contact their support since then, but the few times I did have to they responded quick and were helpful.
