I signed up for this deal

You can find the nameserver info. by logging into DirectAdmin and clicking on "Site Summary / Statistics / Logs". Onza posted it, but the nameserver info. should've arrived in an e-mail.

that's what I got on my email... no idea if that is the same for everyone or just me.

Goodluck!

Thanks, I didn't get my confirmation email and wanted to get the ball rolling with godaddy.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I know my information is several years out of date as the last time I did much research on the company was when you guys had absorbed CredibleHost. Short of those little personal preference things though, my short stay with you guys was very smooth.

As for the "fraud order" mentioned above, our credit card company marks each on a particular score - IP address of the order, distance from order location to billing location, previous history with a particular card or card holder and many other scores. Not all are guaranteed by our CC company - if they mark it as fraud, 99.99% of the time, it IS fraud, especially when there's more than 8000 miles separating the order IP from the billing IP. We can override certain things, and have on a couple of occasions, but there were several factors with a couple orders that forced us to reject the order. In 10 years, I think we've categorically rejected less than 25 orders. Sorry we weren't able to provide you services, but we have guidelines we follow.

Anyone know how fast upload speeds are? I used Netfirms and they sucked ass.

VERY Fast, same with the downloads. It easily maxes out on my 15 mb down / 2mb up cable connection

Just a reminder to those of you moving or registering new domain names through them (or any host for that matter, this doesn't relate only to HostPC.)
Make sure that the contact information for the domain name lists you as the owner. You can run a simple WHOIS on the domain to find out.
This is a recommended precautionary measure because some less reputable companies may register your domain with their information, and then when problems come up, they hold it hostage, and you have no way of reclaiming it because the information does not show your name. This is not to say that HostPC is not reputable, but you never know when something may happen or when a company goes belly-up, as I painfully learned from my experience with CredibleHost - I nearly lost my domain when she fell off the face of the Earth.

If things go bad, make sure to request the domain be transferred over to you / your registrar so you can keep the domain.

Very good point Darkrogue. That's why I always register my domains through Godaddy. Then, all I need to do is adjust the name server to whatever host I want.

Another , been a customer for 2 years or so with no problems, and they were quick to help when I screwed up the DNS settings for my domain and couldn't get back in to fix it. Just wish I could manage to catch one of these promos

They disappeared a few hours back. I hope it's just maintenance.

No DNS nothing

they are quick to respond with emails, and i've had no troubles with my hosted space.

Question:
anyone know if an existing customer on HostPC can get changed over to this $10 /year plan?

i think i'm on a $20-ish/year plan at hostPC but don't nearly use half of what i've been given....

placed my order at 11 this morning and payed with paypal, 11 hours later and still no dice. They tell me that some take longer when they have to be manually verified. wonder how they go about doing that? I payed with PAYPAL.

I think it's strange too, because it still isn't set up. Says pending. Any body know of any deals somewhere else?

They are probably understaffed or overwhelmed with other stuff. For $10/year, you can't expect them to provide an immediate response. I don't know how other web hosting companies operate, but they must be setting up accounts manually. I would give them a bit more time.

EDIT: BTW, Mine took 18 hours to set up. The wait was getting to me too, but I am a happy camper now.

Cool, now its been terminated. Says fraud. How could this be fraud when it was payed for with paypal? 99.9% of the time is is fraud, huh! Seems to me, I might of pissed in someone's cheerios by posting in this thread. Thanks for wasting my time, hostpc.

Hey, HostPC, I am a happy camper. Don't terminate me please.

Sorry to hear about your problem. This hosting service is a great value. Perhaps something did trigger a fraud alert. It does happen. For $10/year, I would give it another shot.
