$10 Wireless home security system @ Staples B&M (YMMV)

Staples has the following wireless secutiry systems on clearance. Cheapest one is only $10

777695474101 Home Sentinel WA410: $70 (originally $200)
777695472107 Home Sentinel WA210: $30
777695471100 Home Sentinel WA110: $10

Difference is the number/type of sensors included

The store I went to did not have any on display, but after asking the manager he got me 2 from the back (I asked for 2 because getting another system is cheaper if you need more sensors, eg, a signle door/window sensor is about ~30, and 1 is included in the WA110).

Yes, they are all wireless. They use the same 14-zone base.

I found the first one in a store that was closing in Hillsboro, OR. Since price was so chep (like $9 after a 10% discount a few weeks back) I thought it was because it was closing. Yesterday I ventured into the store by the Wash Sq. Mall in Tigard, OR and found them at the prices listed above, so it wasn't local.

BTW, they do not show up in staples website, but it does show up in their auctions, at least the WA 110, where it has been getting bids of ~$40 (vs $10 at B&M)

A store near me has only the WA410's. The only difference I can see between the WA210 and WA410 is that the 410 comes with a motion detector. Both only come with 2 window/door sensors. The 410 was marked $100 clearance on the shelf, next to the empty, slighly beat looking boxes. I was waiting 5 minutes for the guy to return to help me, got tired of waiting and just left.

edit>> the location on the shelves was between the brother electric typwriters and the paper shredders. Look for the small monitor in the display sold by the same company.

As for the sensors

110: 1 door/window
210: 2 door/window
410: 2 door/window, 1 motion, 1 remote control

If you want 2 sensors, you are better off buying 2 110s, an throwing away one of the base units. That's what I've done to set it up in my house, so far I got 4 extra base stations.

Does anyone know what these do? Can you record the video feed from these wireless cameras? Are they just alarms? Are they just meant to monitor activity in one room while you are in a different room (like a baby cam). I would really like something that actually records video (I basically want a video servalliance system similar to 7-11, etc.).

Also, do you know if these will capture audio as well? I would be cool if I could also make "special" home videos of me and the girlfriend.

I just picked up 2 110's & 1 210. The 210 comes with a rechargeable battery backup. I went to Staples in Woodland Hills, Ca and they were out! I found a sales manager and had him run the numbers. He found 4(110's) in a Simi Valley store so I had him call over there. They said they had 2 open box & 2 damaged. I told him not to have them hold them but decided to drive out there anyway. When I got there, the guy that answered the phone for the 1st store manager was gone, so some other Staples slug helped me out. He had to look in 4 different places and eventually came out of the back with (1) 410 & (1) 110 (brand new, unopened)! I asked if he had any more & he came back with (2) 210's & 3 (110's)(brand new, unopened)!! I bought what I needed and left some behind so there are a couple left in Simi.

Point of this: You have to go and check for yourself at the individual B&M stores. Obviously Staples inventory computer system is flawed!

Ooopps ... guess I'm a retard. Looks like this is just a wireless alarm system, not a wireless SURVEILLANCE system. I've got to stop skim reading.
