If you didn't appreciate 2d fighters there was really no point owning a Dreamcast..

Because the Dreamcast had so many arcade perfect fighting game ports, it will be played for another 10 years while newer consoles will be forgotten.

2d fighters never go out of style.

I think that's taking it a little far, I didn't play any of them on mine, and it was my only console until I got a Gamecube a few years later.

It had all the great 2D fighters but had many other great games as well. I loved the Dreamcast so much. I never played Shenmue 2 so I need to catch up on it since it wasn't released here in the states on the Dreamcast and I never had an Xbox. I wasted many hours on MvC1/2 with my friends and it spawned an awesome sports studio.

The Dreamcast lost because everyone was waiting on the PS2. It sold awesome until it got close to PS2 release time then sales dropped so damn much it was sad. And I bought every launch game. EVERY GAME including Trickstyle yes Trickstyle. I really enjoyed that game too.

The Dreamcast lost out entirely because of Sega. SegaCD? 32X? Saturn? Those of us who spent ~$1K on hardware to play $50 worth of games were pretty pissed off with them at the time. I ended up getting a DC after it was discontinued and clearanced along with a ton of games for dirt cheap, but no way was I going to invest in what appeared to be yet another Sega scam.

Famicom debuted that long before the DC. Much like the DC though, people weren't very interested in it. Even now, with it being one of the most hyped features this generation only 30% of 360 users are gaming on line with their console.

Ranks #2 only behind my mom spontaneously deciding to go out and buy a SNES when I was in kindergarden as the greatest purchase experience

Damn that makes me feel old, my buddies and I stopped off to pick up some beer on the way home after grabbing my SNES on launch day.....
