i'll note that because of this exact case, the legislature in georgia amended the law so that this case could not happen again. so, now, it would be consensual.

Anyways, in his particular case...the evidence showed that she initiated the act. I feel the prosecutor could've gone a little easier with the plea agreement. Why should he have to register as a sex offender?

For all those saying he's in jail just because he's stubborn, check out the link...it goes more into why he didn't take the plea deal after he was convicted at trial. The main reason was the condition of having to register as a child molester. If he did that then once he got out he would not be able to live in the same house as his little sister that he loves very much. That's why he didn't take the deal the prosecutor offered, even explaining why to the prosecutor. The prosecutor it seems, just plain did not care.

That is bull... he would have been labeled a sex offender for his entire life. If he would have just had sex with her... He would have only gotten a fine or 2 years in jail... he was acquitted of rape. Because it was a BJ he got 10 years jail and labeled a sex offender. That is garbage. The racist DA tried to give him some bs deal for 5 years and being a sex offender. That is basically life. Would you be okay with being labeled a sex offender for your entire life over a blowjob. Seems to me they just want to prove they still have control. They know it is wrong... but that doesn't matter to them. The only course is to have this black kid grovel at their feet.

I 100% agree he got screwed. The law is retarded, & needs to be fixed. I would be quite happy if he was just pardoned & this all went away. Hell somebody nominate him for a presidential pardon, I'd be all for it.

HOWEVER...

Once you've been convicted of aggravated child molestation (which means you're going to have to register anyway) and the minimum sentence is 10 years...

Common sense says 5 years + registration is a better deal.

Let me repeat:

I don't want him in jail, I'd prefer he never have been charged.

But he was offered an alternative AFTER conviction, & he rejected it. He would be out by now had he taken it.

If someone can find documented proof that he would not have had to register under his conviction I would see things differently.
