~10 Miles this morning. Felt very good, though I was moving a bit slow. Practice, practice, practice.

+6 this morning, running with some friends. Did some quick bursts in the middle and felt pretty good. Legs are sure tired now.

48 miles for me this week. I had a pretty good 33k run this afternoon. I kept an even pace the entire run and everything felt good except for some cramps, which seem to have just started happening in the last couple of weeks. Weird. :\

Nice job kamper.

I got a 11 miler in this afternoon for a 44 mile week, all but 9 of which were completed on trails. And it was cool and dry out, such a relief from sweltering.

+39 since Friday. As the weather has gotten cooler I've felt a lot more confident about Chicago, but still not mentally there yet. 2 more weeks and then taper time!

I set out to do 12 miles in the dark with my son tonight but his legs cramped up on him and I wound up only getting 6 done. I was feeling good, too.

Get a head lamp Keith. I'm doing my night runs with one, it's not too weird.

I may need to do that. I'm concerned about hitting an inequity in the ground and injuring myself. I run on the seawall, so right on the water, and the light is minimal to non-existant in most spots.

I run trails in the woods. Lots of hills, roots, and rocks. The "danger" of it is part of the fun. Either way, it helps to have light even with even terrain.

Concur with Jeff. Headlamp is a great thing...I only use it if we start our runs b/t 5-5:30 at the lake. Otherwise, around the 'hood, there's enough lighting from the streetlamps to see where I'm going from space. Where you are running - definitely a headlamp. They have the clip-on (for a hat) or the one with a band - either way, I suggest wearing it with a hat.

Hmm, I never ever wear a hat. I think I own one though. :hmm:

I'll have to go to the running store and check them out.

No hat ever? Damn. I don't mind running without one, but I *hate* getting sweat in my eyes. The hat is the only thing that draws it away...otherwise (esp during any race) I'm slowing down to paw my eyes like a puppy.

Hmm, I've never run in a hat either. I have sweat-in-eyes issues on hot days, but not bad enough that it has significantly impacted me. It's usually worst after I've finished running and I'm just walking around. I've considered a headband but I'm actually kinda worried about looking like I'm in an 80s exercise video :$

I really dislike baseball caps. I'm not a huge sweater and when I sweat my hair is long enough to absorb most of the offending drops on my brow before they hit my eyes.

I do have a headband that I wear on occassion, but only when I'm feeling frisky. :awe:

While they're in the style of ball caps (bill on front), running caps are generally lighter and meshier. But yeah, maybe not so great with long hair.

Anything like that I hate. I think I'm just paranoid that it will pull my hair out or something.

I sweat like a mutherfvcker and hat or no hat sweat runs into my eyes. But after an hour or so the sweat stops irritating my eyes.

Check this site out, many an ultrarunner/trail runner wears these.
HeadSweats

Tonight my wife is sick so I had to take my daughter to cheerleading practice and pick her up, so I didn't have time to go to the trail. So I went to the gym instead and humored myself by doing a sprint distance triathlon in reverse. It was fun, but I only got 4 miles of running in. Treadmill running is bad on my knees though, I had to cut the run short.

I actually like Headsweats gear - Asics uses them as the liner for their hats. It works well.

2 miles over the past week.

25,321

AND..........
Shortylickens has now started back at the gym. Wed. was bench press, curls, tricep extensions, lat pull and military press.
Thursday was leg curls, quad extensions, calf raises, hip abductors (inside and out) and leg raises.
Friday will probably be just cardio and some light upper body stuff to keep moving.
Monday will add butterfly's and maybe some shoulder stuff.

No reason you can't do both. I ran yesterday, did gym this morning, and will run tomorrow. It's good to mix it up. ^_^
