the crowd was yelling near the finish line, and one lady shouted at me 'you've come this far run the rest!' so i started running. it worked well for about 30 feet and then i almost ate it when my knee gave out again

Turns out I actually did 19, not 18 yesterday, and I did another 10 today. I found out the hard way that I need an extra layer underneath my cheap Starter running pants; plain old briefs do not help cut the wind at all and I was a hurtin' swamp dawg when I got back!

LOL, thanks Mega, I'm sure your son appreciates you talking about his weiner to strange people on message boards... Probably just as much as I appreciate hearing about it! The worst part is, I did have to stop and take a leak on that run, too, so that just made it even worse. I need to invest in a pair of those wind-stopper briefs.

Anyway, I did an easy 11 today before the snow hits. I'm supposed to run with a friend at 6am tomorrow, but with 8-14" of snow expected tonight, I'll be surprised if he shows up!

I experienced this for the first time the other week. It wasn't the freezing itself that hurt, it was the thawing. I never want to feel that pain again. :'(

When you're cheering on finishers, it's often tough to tell who just needs a little extra motivation and who has slowed down for a good reason. I've seen the same thing before and you definitely feel bad if you accidentally push someone to do something they shouldn't have.

I only doubled for 9 on Saturday, but I did a progression run on the dreadmill in the evening and ended with a 6:00 mile so I figure that makes up for running one mile less than I planned. I did 8 yesterday and 17 today. My GPS died 10 miles in, and I was supposed to run the last 4 miles at marathon pace, so I just pushed the last 5 or 6 miles. Felt like 6:15-6:30 pace but I guess I'll never know! All I know is I felt amazing, which is surprising since I was just a wee bit hungover this morning! But for some reason going for a long hard run is the perfect cure for a hangover for me. Weird.
