Did you know that NB is releasing a new shoe that is the best of the NB Minimus and the MT101? It's called the MT110 and it will be my next shoe.

i saw that they were putting out a new line with 0 drop but it's not supposed to be around until spring.

I wanted to do more, but it's hard to fit in a long workout in the morning when I have to leave my house at 6am.

I think a 4mm lift and 0mm drop is what I remember. Should be out in March, just in time for me to start ramping up for my next race.

Me and my boys hit Spencer Crest for a short but fast 4 miler. Hills and mud like last weekend, just not as extreme. My climbing muscles pinched a bit at first but soon got into the groove. I'd say I'm all recovered at this point.

21 miles this week. 10K race this morning in Raleigh, did a 46:27, good enough for 2nd place in my age group.

I've been crazy busy lately and haven't posted in a while, but I have logged 159 miles since I last posted. One last long run tomorrow, and then my taper for Columbus starts!!

Way to go Scorch and good luck in Ohio. I'm heading into yet another taper, I'll be doing Mendon 50K with Adam one last time before he leaves for the Navy. Our goal is to destroy the race at under 6 hours, which would be fast for us on that course.

We did an easy 6 in the cold rain this morning. The rail trail was covered with leaves and we saw 2 deer. No other people though, I can't believe how soft most people are.

+22 today. Did first 17 around 7:00 pace and the last 5 around 6:00 pace. Felt great and actually had to make myself slow down on the last 5 miles as my legs wanted to run 5:40 pace. Taper starts tomorrow whoo!

Megatomic or Scorch or seasoned runners - what surface do you usually run on? Just wondering.
I have been running for ~4 months and I am starting to get these little aches here and there. I am usually limited to running on concrete or asphalt but mostly concrete...grass is just too uneven.

wayliff, I do 95%+ of my running on trails, whether they be technical singletrack (my favorite) or dirt rail trails (the easiest). I tend to get little aches and pains here and there from time to time, and I even get chronic issues with my groin and ITB. Stretching, yoga, and active recovery help me with these, but I only do those things if I'm suffering. I am time crunched most of the time...

Thanks for the reply. I feel more reassured and probably need to consider changing surfaces that are easier on the body. And definitely start squeezing some yoga in my schedule.

Not only will your feet/legs thank you for going off-road, your brain probably will too. It is so relaxing and challenging (yes, at the same time). I could go on and on about how trail running trumps road running, but it's all just my personal opinion.

I mostly run on roads, but far prefer packed dirt trails. Roads are the easiest, but trails are much more forgiving on your legs. One thing I would suggest is to take a look at your shoes and see how they are wearing. If you are just now starting to develop little aches and pains new shoes might take care of that. If you can see the midsole through any part of the outsole or see wrinkling in the foam, that's an indication that they are wearing out. Another thing to mention is that asphalt is actually softer than concrete, enough to actually make a difference. So if you are able to run on the road instead of the sidewalk without getting run over, that could even help a bit too. But finding some nice groomed trails will increase the quality of your life, by far!!

+4 miles Quiet, easy solo run on the trail in the dark. My company: 3 deer, 1 rabbit, and lots of bats.

Blisters are a non-issue now. Drainage + tape = no pain.

Consistent pain in my right leg though--it's giving me a tiny limp.
