kevman, I've never done a race where the mud was manufactured, but I've run some horribly muddy races in the past. Last years Virgil Crest Ultras was a mudbath, there were times when I was up to my balls in mud There were other times when I was running along and up and down ravines and switchbacks and the clay was like bearing grease.

What do you want to know about mud running?

I wonder if I can hack it to be honest. I am running about a 30 minute 5k give or take and I only do longer distances on the treadmill. I wonder if I'd be able to get through this with all the obstacles.

Personally I don't think the obstacles are going to be insurmountable. I've seen all kinds of people finish those events. Just go into the first one with the intention of finishing and having fun. If you love it, do it again with more aggressive goals in mind.

I saw a program on Animal Planet a while back where the shedded skin of a king cobra was found in Florida. Apparently they escaped from some exotic zoo in the 90's after a hurricane. I've seen cobras when I was a kid back in Taiwan. Don't mess with cobras...

Anyway, only 20 miles this week. Did 26 miles this morning, but it was on a bike.

So now I can add cobras to the list of rattlesnakes, copperheads, cottonmouths, and coral snakes? Super. haha Thanks for the heads up, it's good to know.

I did 14 miles this morning, and I felt pretty good. No chafing, no cramping, no joint pain. And I hit a weekly mileage PR this week, too.

I'm feeling so good right now, my speed is ultra slow, but I've lost about 18lbs since April and been sticking to my diet. My clothes are finally fitting again. Hope I can keep this up after baby #2 shows up.
