Utterly obliterated my 10K PR this morning by more than 2 minutes. 56:40!

Good job! Of course, I suspect that 56:40 will itself be surpassed fairly shortly. Reaping the rewards of consistent training plus more running-friendly weather are going to make you faster still. Keep it up!

Plus 4 miles on some quite tired legs this morning. At least the weather was beautiful. 61 and breezy.

4.1 miles this afternoon. 97F and 85% humidity. So miserable.

That's brutal. I'd have stayed inside on the treadmill in those conditions. The dreadmill sucks, but 97F is rougher still. I'm impressed you got the miles in.

+9 tempo last night
+6 easy this morning in 61F - felt awesome!

I don't even own a treadmill. Every mile I've run since 2009 has been outside in the elements. Harsh winters in NY and brutal summers in FL. Sometimes I do question my own sanity.

Don't worry I'll be questioning mine this winter. Running outdoors in the Michigan winter...not looking forward to it.

I'm OK with the cold - I don't like it much, but I heat up enough once I get going. I've even run while it's snowing, and it's beautiful. I don't want to risk icy surfaces, however, and I hate running when it's slushy and my feet are soaked. That's just blister city for me. When it's like that, I'll hit the dreadmill. Props to you guys for getting in the miles year-round.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. For the first time ever since I started running, I HAD to take a MAJOR pit stop this morning. Couldn't make it home. Good thing I was running along a country road and was able to pop off into the woods.

5 miles yesterday, 8 miles today.

+10 Sat.
+10 Sun.

Also proud of my son for shaving 2 minutes off his 5K PR (and beating mine) with a 21:02 at his second cross country meet. Of course, a 21:02 is just middle-of-the-pack for JV cross country, but he's definitely showing significant improvement with regular training, and his coach is quite confident he'll be getting much faster. Looks like my days of beating him to the finish are numbered for me!

+10 miles on the Crooked lake/potawatomi trail today. Started to rain as soon as I got there and quickly turned into a driving thunderstorm with torrential rain for 8 of the 10 miles. It was an incredible run watching the trees shake and the rain pour down. Ended up donating a bit of skin and blood to the trail gods. I thought it was a good idea to bomb down a long downhill and ended up losing my footing in the muck and sliding ass first down the rest of the downhill. But damn what a fantastic borderline spiritual run.
