+6.2 on the deeply snowy trails around potawatomi trail. Was again below zero with the windchill (-4f) was snowing the whole time as well. Beautiful. Peaceful. And bloody cold!!!

Sigh, 3 miles on the dreadmill with minimal discomfort from the left IT band, but during the cool-down, it felt as if Tonya Harding whacked it with a club.

10 miles in a new PR 1:28:53 I'm not saying the windchill of 0F had anything to do with it but it sure helped. No signs of the really bitter cold letting up unfortunately.

I fully understand how you are feeling. I've been through the IT Band thing myself and it sucks. I still run in fear of it coming back one of these days but I seem to have it under control.

5 miles on my ever more squeaky treadmill.

After knocking out a 9 mile run last Sunday, I missed 2 running days this week. With these winter storms I've been getting hammered with overtime at work. Luckily, having 9 miles on the first day of the week still let me finish with a better than usual week. 20.75 miles in total (rounded up to 21, since last week I rounded down). I did 7.4 miles today with a really strong wind and loose snow, packed snow, and/or slushy snow road conditions. I still averaged 8:35 minute miles, but I likely would have shaved some time if the roads were clear.

I do wonder if I'd be thinner if I live in a warmer climate. I can't help but think that our bodies adapt to our living environments.

BTW: I signed up for the Brooklyn Half Marathon at the urging of my niece. I'll probably run with her, which will considerably slow my pace. I haven't decided if I should run another Half Marathon around the same time (but solo) just to see if I would cut around 13 minutes off my previous time of 1:58. Jeez... $75 for allowing me to run 13.1 miles.... I hope I get a REALLY nice T-Shirt!

6.5 miles on the trails at Lake Louisa today. The trails were all freshly tilled up so it was sugar sand the entire way. Tough run.

In desperation, I got one of those snake oil IT band strap thingamajig. OMGWTFBBQ, ran 10K with minimal discomfort and no pain after the run. I don't believe it and will keep on working on my hip abductors, but dang if I will keep on wearing that strap.

I've been using one of those straps for almost year now. I can feel it when I don't wear the strap so I believe they work.

6 miles tonight.

Might I ask if you guys have ever used a foam roller for your IT band issues?

I use the foam roller often and it helps quite a bit. I really should be rolling daily but some days I don't get around to it.

I also do a IT Band strengthening routine four times a week (or so) which has probably made the biggest impact on keeping me running.

I forgot about this thread since I started up running last year. I'll drop in my total mileage up through yesterday, and update as I add more:
414.8 as of today:

4 miles pain free today, but afterwards, felt a couple of sharp twinges. Feels pretty good right now after some ibuprofen.
