Good luck, crazy ultrarunner! You've got to come up and do the JFK50 one of these days, and talk me into doing the same. I just want the sticker for my car!

Edit: Just looked up your 100K, and wow! 100K in June in the South! Drink up, Mega! After something like that, JFK in Nov. would be a piece of cake!
JFK is iconic, it's up there with States for the Boston of the ultra world. One day I will be doing it and your idea sounds awesome. I am thinking JFK2015 is likely.

About my race this year: yeah, it's insane. Point to point in swampy heat is going to be brutal. This is not an easy race despite the lack of elevation change. I am preparing for it now, saving my longer runs for the heat of the day and consuming as little fluid as possible without dehydrating.

5 easy miles tonight. I broke my 5K PR by a pretty wide margin on Saturday and I wasn't expecting to be so sore from a 3 mile run, but it really put a beating on me.

22:30, which is pretty pathetic, but for me that's a good time!

Nothing pathetic about a 22:30 5K from a recreational runner! That's a time few people achieve without a lot of hard work or natural talent, or both. Good job!

My personal "standard" is 2xWR (two times the world record) at any particular distance. If I can run under 2xWR, I'm pretty happy with that. Sure, I still try to drop my times, but we can't all be elites, and I'm certainly not.

+7.1 miles this morning in the Hilochee Wildlife area in Florida. What a beautiful run in the foggy conditions. Got all muddy and bloody from the damp conditions and briars on the trail. The definition of a great trail run for me.

Yikes! Almost 2 weeks since I've updated. I got in 17 miles the previous week. I was wiped out after that OT. Having said that, I got a SERIOUSLY nice paycheck on Thursday! I haven't decided what to buy myself, but I'm thinking of getting a light weight set of running shoes. I'd like to see if I can run a sub 7 minute mile as part of a 5k. I got down below a 7:10 a few times last year when I ran a weekly 5k with a local running club. I got as low as a 7:05 and am hoping that maybe a light pair of shoes will help me get a few seconds faster. Anyone here use lightweight shoes?

I *might* sign up for another 1/2 marathon before the Brooklyn Half that I'm running with my 29 Y.O. niece. Figuring that another 1/2 marathon and a pair of light weight shoes will probably cost me $200, I might as well splurge since I now have some 'extra' money.

Has anyone here run a Tri? I hear that there is a 'baby tri' around here. I think it's a 9 mile ride, 5k run, with maybe a 750Meter swim? Does that sound right? I can't imagine the run and ride being a problem (I do plenty of mileage on both). But, what is the odds that a guy who doesn't usually swim (really, not more than 4 times in the past 3 years), could do 750Meters?

FWIW: My local running store had a 'fun-run' last Sunday. I did the 9 mile course which ended up being cut down to 8.1 miles. I had a good time and met some nice people afterwards. I'll include that with this weeks mileage after I get back from my run today. Almost 2pm and I still haven't run today! God, I love slacking on the weekends!
