Mega - yikes man. Take it easy at work. Good to hear the forehead's not too bad.

Capt Caveman - Sucks dude, but you have to rest that achilles. I haven't blown one out, but I had tendinitis pretty bad when I first started running, and it's absolutely something you can't run through.

Well, I saw my trainer today for my once every 6 weeks ass kicking. More difficult strength exercises than last time, so I'll see how I handle that with increased mileage.

Easy 6 miles tonight.

I kinda want to add 11 miles here. I went up Mt. Adams and the trail we took is 5.7 miles long. I went with a marathoner and he said that it was about as difficult as his first marathon. It wasn't a run but it was easily as tough as any run I've done so far, especially considering the altitude. I'll let someone else in the thread update the total with 11 miles extra if they want to count it.

Ran 2 miles on Sunday with the gf, felt smashed up 1 mile to the bridge, a bit of a walk around and a mile back. I obviously stretched before hand and felt battered. Had to nap for 90mins later on in the afternoon

Going to run on a weekly basis from now on.

When I ran my marathon in May, half-way thru it I developed pain in my achilles. It has progressively gotten worse, developing into a tendinitis and the reason why I haven't been running and adding to the mileage here. It sucks! With the new dog, I've been doing a lot of walking which actually causes more pain than running. But if I run more than 6 miles, it really hurts for a few days. I've tried different shoes and running barefoot with no success.

So, I have stopped running and have been doing eccentric heel drops to build-up the achilles tendon. After having ruptured the other one back in college, I'm in no mood to develop a knot and have this one rupture. It sucks b/c I want to sign-up for some races this fall and if I do, would need to start training soon.

It feels good today and I want to run but I think I should give it another weeks rest. Reading all of your reports gets me depressed.

Have you seen a podiatrist on that yet? And it's definitely in the achilles? I'd ask your running buddies on recommendations. I picked one out by random from Google and she was terrible. My local running store (Run On) ended up recommending me a Superfeet insert that's solved my issue ever since. (Plantar fas. is what I had, not really achilles though)

I'm including power-walking, so this definitely counts. Good job!

Yeah, I know. I'm going to rest it for a couple of weeks.

Yes, it's definitely the achilles. Even touching it is painful. I have made some inquires about finding an Orthopedic specialist. If things don't get better in a couple weeks of rest, I'll make an appt.

Thanks guys!

Sucky thing. The New Balance Factory store has a huge sale going on and I just picked up another pair of running shoes, trail running shoes and assorted apparel.

8 miles yesterday. Supposed to do 12 but my afternoon 9-miler turned into a 5-mile "Run like hell before I get struck by lightning or a tree falls on me." It was a crazy intense thunderstorm; lightning all around me almost continuously. Did 14 today, including 2x 3 miles at tempo pace. This workout was the exact opposite of Sunday's workout. Then, I was running under pace, feeling awesome, like I wasn't even working. Today, I was going just barely faster, feeling like I was going all-out and my legs just would not turn over. Oh well, still got the miles in. Brings us to 7240

No running yesterday or today. I didn't get home until 8:30 yesterday, and I'll be here at work until midnight today. This is driving me nuts.

Do you think it's going to be possible to maintain the strength/mass while you bump up the mileage?

+3 rainy miles after my workout today.

I won't really wanna run to much more than that. Once my body gets used to running 3-5 miles, the 2 mile PT test will be a breeze, which is the goal.

Also, I'll start riding a road bike sometime next week to replace some of my cardio. I just got one from my uncle and waiting on a few parts + shoes.
