Same; it's usually only a concern on Sunday long runs or any run where it's raining, as the shorts stick to my legs. I just had no idea I would sweat so much on a (relatively) short run. I was already feeling it 30 min into the run :|.

I had to apply some Bodyglide today. I've never had any issues with chafing before (except my nipples) but all this mileage coupled with the heat and humidity make for a very raw grundle region. If you can't find Bodyglide though, any type of diaper rash lotion will work too; that's what I used on Sunday for my long run and it worked great. I think it was called Butt Paste.

Anyway, I did 5 miles this morning and 7 miles with 4 barefoot this evening. Holy crap my legs are tired! Not only yesterday's workout, but also from hitting an all-time high of 92.7 miles in the last 7 days! Yeesh! 7555

Good god Scorch, you are brushing up against 100mpw. That's incredible man, props.

I intended to a 12 mile run on my favorite trail tonight, but about 1 mile into it I was completely swarmed by deerflies. I couldn't shoo them away, there were literally dozens upon dozens of them. I had to run at top speed back to my car!! So 2 miles there and 8 really hilly miles on the stupidly hilly road route I follow near my house tonight.

+1 yesterday, +6 today

Running was terribly difficult today. So muggy...I looked like I took a swim in the river rather than jogging along the bank of it.

8x100m sprints with 8x100m jogs, barefoot on a soccer field with the dog(needed to tire him out). My achilles did hurt but is fine now. Time to see the Orthopedic Specialist.

Last night, I did 3 miles at race pace, with 4 miles total for the warmup and cooldown.

Managed to hit my miles right on target but it was a lot more difficult. Yesterday, Vancouver hit an official all-time record of 34.4 C (94F). It was the second day in a row that we set all-time heat records. :sun:

According to the thermometer outside my place though, it was 38 C (100F) and the humidity pushed it over 100.

I was very well hydrated going into the run but once I finished the 3 miles and went into my cooldown, I honestly thought that only a mile more at pace and I would have had heat stroke. My head was starting to tingle and I had a very dry throat. I was still sweating though, so I figured I was ok. I stopped at a couple of water fountains on the way home.

Luckily the heat wave is supposed to subside by early next week for when I rip off some more track intervals.

How do you guys in the South and NE deal with this kind of weather? Do you adjust to it or does it always suck? At what temperature/humidity does it actually become dangerous to do hard workouts?

ick, that sounds brutal, IB. I can't handle anything much over 75 F. Today I did 4x mile in 5:43, 5:44, 5:47, 5:39. 3 up, 3 down for 10 total. 7599

Gonna be busy tomorrow, so did my 14 mile long run this evening. Running after working 5 days is a bit harder then getting a good nights sleep and running on a Sat.

11 hot sunny miles this morning. Gives me 91 for the week; 13 mile/day average and my highest official weekly mileage ever! 7628

Awesome Scorch. Very inspiring.

I did 12 fast ones on the trails this morning. Deer flies apparently aren't morning bugs, there were only 1 or 2 out there bothering me today. Anyways, I'm starting something new this week: medium distance runs back to back on the weekends. This weekend I'll be doing 12s, by the time I taper in October for my ultra I'll be doing 20/18 or so. This is something I learned at an ultra trail running site. I hope it works.

Whoops. I forgot to totalize. 7640

Congrats on a new highest mileage total Scorch! I'm doing about that much in kms each week LOL.

Mega - that's an interesting training strategy. Is the purpose to break up an otherwise very long weekend run into two medium distance runs? Do you only do a really long run (30 miles?) every other week?

11 miles for me this morning.

The idea is to minimize the damage a long run causes while still accruing the fatigue and stamina increase that you can get by doing the back to back runs. Speaking of which, I'm not going to have the time to do the second run today. I'm barely going to have time to do a strength workout. Monday and Tuesday my wife works late and I'll do the back to back then.

Family life is all about compromise...

Sounds like a plan Mega. I double up once a week (although not quite as long as you're going ) and I find it's very beneficial. I agree that it can be tough to get 2 workouts in when you're juggling work and family though.

17 miles for me today.

16 miles for me today. One of the best runs I've ever had, which is surprising because I went to a wedding 2 hours away this weekend, went to sleep at 1am, woke up at 10, took a nap at 3, drove 2 hours and then ran. But I felt great, and I did the first 8 easy and the last 8 at marathon pace and felt very smooth and fast and effortless. Perfect evening for a run too; mid-60s with the sun setting as I was running and a very light breeze. 7696

I had an incredible run tonight guys. For me anyways. I did 13 miles in 1 hour and 38 minutes. No pain in my legs at all. My foot didn't swell. And my breathing was smooth. I can't remember feeling so good on a run, not since the race I did in May.

Ahhh I feel bad that I haven't been posting. We'd probably be over 8,000 miles by now. Anyway, I'm still not doing that much mileage, but I'll at least start tracking it now

Yesterday I went 4 miles.
