Congrats Scorch! How did you propose?

I had a solid half marathon this morning. Pacing was a bit erratic but I'm pretty happy with the time and position. Conditions were almost perfect - cool and misty rain, and the only discernible wind was between mile 8 and 9. So really only 2 "bad" miles.

I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't going to be able to keep with the lead pack (3:00 through the first km :Q) so I ended up running solo for almost the entire race.

I was 4th in a time of 1:17:25. Full results

Splits:

(Miles)
(1) 5:31
(2) 5:53
(3) 5:51
5km: 17:53
(4) 5:34
(5) 6:17
(6) 6:00
10km: 36:15
(7) 6:04
(8) 6:00
(9) 6:13
15km: 55:06
(10) 6:01
(11) 6:13
(12) 5:51
(13) 5:50

Edit: 17 miles including warmup and cooldown. 7975

Very nice run IB!

I'm excited to see how your half goes Scorch. Hopefully you can hit the splits a bit more consistently than I did!

And I also want to know how you proposed! (You can even post it in a separate thread in L&R if you want).

Ha, now I don't feel bad for being a slowpoke. I'm hauling around 60 more lbs than you guys

You're definitely taller and more built though, right silverpig? It's all MUSCLE .

OTOH, Scorch needs to eat a burger (or 6). I was barely under 130 through university and I sure as hell won't get down there again. Haha, actually now that I have more muscle on me (and thus weigh more) I'm less injury prone than I was in university, so it's beneficial.

Ok, OT for a bit: I took Ashlie out on a dinner cruise on one of the Finger Lakes on a paddle-wheel boat. After dinner (and a few drinks ), we went out onto the deck at the front of the boat and I asked her there. Then I turned around and yelled so the whole boat could hear, "HEY EVERYONE!!! I JUST ASKED THIS GIRL TO MARRY ME AND SHE SAID YES!!!"

Scorch, how was the food on that cruise? I'm looking to take my wife out on a dinner cruise for her bday this month and I could do the one you took Ashlie out on or I could do the one on Seneca Lake.

I got a leisurely 5 miles in tonight, it felt good to stretch out the legs and the lungs pumping again.

+12 in Mendon Ponds today. I forgot to wear a hat and the deerflies were out with a vengeance. I swear I actually heard some of them screaming, "Don't start thinking you got the best of me! I got some news for you; you ain't seen the last of me!" (Madd propps to anyone who catches the reference). I have bites all over my neck and back and deerfly guts all over my hair. But, I felt good and it was a good run regardless. 8070

So, wearing a hat provides good protection from the little bastards? I hate wearing hats but I'd happily wear one if it kept those monsters at bay.

I hate deerflies. :|

Damn, I feel sorry for you guys with the deerflies. Do they bite right through your shirt too? I don't know how I would put up with that run after run.

 for the Yasso 800's - that's pretty much the pace I've been doing my 800m track intervals at. It's a harder workout that it appears to be.

4 miles this morning. 8098

I've logged 188 since starting my Nike+ running obsession. If 3/3/09 is the cutoff date for starting the count then it would be 72 Miles.

8286 or 8170

Let's go with 8170, as that's since the start of the thread. Thanks for the contribution!

Are you planning to run the upcoming Nike+ Human Race (I believe it's on Oct 24)?

Jogged 2 miles yesterday; the most I've ever jogged in one go. The day before, I could barely do half a mile. It was all in the pacing.

Yeah! Thanks for mentioning it, I'm actually on the C25K program. I should be done a few weeks before 10/24

Yes, they do. My son and I take turns swatting them off each other's back. I can't wait for the first frost to kill them off.

Welcome to Shadow Conception and screwd01.

I don't like wearing a hat either, but it keeps the deerflies out of your hair, which to me is the most annoying thing about them. I did 15 miles today, with 3x 3 miles at MP. Well, the first 3-miler was at marathon pace, the next 2 felt the same but were about a minute faster! Ripped off a 2:50 last half mile on the last one which felt pretty good. 8191
