After not running for several weeks, 4 PT sessions and 8 steroid treatments, although I'm not supposed to try running for another 3 weeks, I jogged for 1 minute and walked for 1 minute for 2.4 miles.

those runs build character, mega! I did a real easy 16 today. No MP work today; thats for sure! That gives me 103 miles in the last 7 days. 9469

Had a decent workout today. Was on muddy hilly trails so times weren't great, but did 1 up, 800s with 2:00 rest @ 2:50, 2:50, 3:00, 2:56, and one down. Count in the 2:00 off between each 800, and we have +5.

Well, I've got 4 training weeks before I go back into taper mode for my next race. If my race is 31 miles, what should I shoot for for my longest training run? And should I aim for a one time longest run or one weekend back to backer? I seem to recover better from 2 medium distance back to backs than I do from one long run...

I think you should do a 26 miler two weekends before your big race and somewhere between an 12-18 miler the weekend before

All right, thanks guys. Looks like Sept. 26/27 I go for a full marathon and then the following weekend I'll do something like 18 miles. And then the dreaded taper... My wife actually noticed my irritability last time, and this one's going to be worse as it's my "big" race.

Yeah, taper weeks and rest days are our equivalent of a heroin withdrawal :laugh:. Necessary though. Keep training hard until then dude.

On a separate note, I finally did my first trail run! It was the Jalapeno 10K in San Antonio. I have to say, trail running kicks road racing's ass anyday of the week. Wow. I wish there were some in the Dallas area, but it's such a rush running through the woods. The slippery rocks/roots/etc made it challenging but I think that's why I liked it so much. :thumbsup:

Oh on another separate note - Never, EVER, do a half marathon after a pub crawl. The weekend before last I had a pub crawl starting at 6:30PM. Plan was to leave about 9, maybe 9:30. About 10-15 beers later, (a person) my white pub t-shirt scrawled all over with sharpie, my sleeves ripped off, we decided to leave...at midnight. Didn't get into bed until 2, woke up at 4:45. Needless to say, the first 3 miles were rough. (Had to stop and lie down for 4 minutes) I will say, if not for that 4 minute rest, I quite possibly would have PR'ed, but that's less a factor of the beer and more just b/c I've gotten faster.

Yup, all it takes is one trail race and you're hooked. Welcome to the fold RB. I really really wish my next race was on the trails...

I did a very hilly 9 miler tonight. My cardio was awesome even on the long uphill hauls, I feel pretty good all in all, like I'm about ready for the big one.
