I DO NOT miss the heat of the DFW area RB. I did all my running early in the morning or after sunset during the summer when I lived there. You're one tough guy.

Nice easy 3 this morning + pretty rough 6 hill repeats in 101 degree weather. That was rough.

Dang, IB, those are crazy fast!! Good luck in your race!!
I did a progression run today. Wanted to do 8 miles, starting at 7:00 and dropping 10 seconds per mile, but the loop I ran, which is advertised as 1.2, is really more like 1.1, and messed me up since my splits were not what I was expecting, and I couldn't go as fast as I wanted, so I only did 6 loops. Did 3 up and 4.5 down so I still have 14 for the day though.
Maybe I'm ignorant but I'd have never guessed that there was desert-like territory in BC. That just stuns me. I know you guys have had way hotter than normal temps out there this summer, is that why there are all the fires or is it standard?Originally posted by: silverpig
Megatomic: yep, tons of them. I think there's over 700 burning right now. None are near Vancouver, but I am in the interior visiting my inlaws. It's basically desert and 100+ degrees every day. It makes for fantastic wine country but fires go like crazy here. It just always smells like campfire these days and the smoke can get pretty bad at times too. No soot on the house here though.

Megatomic: The unusually warm temps were for the coast. Because Vancouver is by the water it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A few hundred miles inland is another story. It will easily top 100F in the summer and can get to 110on some days. Combined with the dry conditions (cactus grows all over the place) and you've got ideal forest fire conditions. The southern interior of BC reminds me a lot of the wine regions of California.
