I had a solid half marathon this morning. Pacing was a bit erratic but I'm pretty happy with the time and position. Conditions were almost perfect - cool and misty rain, and the only discernible wind was between mile 8 and 9. So really only 2 "bad" miles.
I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't going to be able to keep with the lead pack (3:00 through the first km :Q) so I ended up running solo for almost the entire race.
I was 4th in a time of 1:17:25. Full results
Splits:
(Miles)
(1) 5:31
(2) 5:53
(3) 5:51
5km: 17:53
(4) 5:34
(5) 6:17
(6) 6:00
10km: 36:15
(7) 6:04
(8) 6:00
(9) 6:13
15km: 55:06
(10) 6:01
(11) 6:13
(12) 5:51
(13) 5:50
Edit: 17 miles including warmup and cooldown. 7975

Dang, nice run IB! That is exactly where I want to be in about a month. I'll have to post my results so we can see how I stack up... I did an easy 10 today, with the middle 4 barefoot on the grass in the rain... beautiful.

thanks guys! it's kind of weird to think that I have a fiancee now... but I like it. Anyway, today I did a nice long 22-miler at just under 7:00 pace, and after I finished, even after drinking 20oz of water, I weighed under 130lbs! I haven't done that since high school!!! 7958

Ok, OT for a bit: I took Ashlie out on a dinner cruise on one of the Finger Lakes on a paddle-wheel boat. After dinner (and a few drinks ), we went out onto the deck at the front of the boat and I asked her there. Then I turned around and yelled so the whole boat could hear, "HEY EVERYONE!!! I JUST ASKED THIS GIRL TO MARRY ME AND SHE SAID YES!!!"
So, wearing a hat provides good protection from the little bastards? I hate wearing hats but I'd happily wear one if it kept those monsters at bay.Originally posted by: SWScorch
+12 in Mendon Ponds today. I forgot to wear a hat and the deerflies were out with a vengeance. I swear I actually heard some of them screaming, "Don't start thinking you got the best of me! I got some news for you; you ain't seen the last of me!" (Madd propps to anyone who catches the reference). I have bites all over my neck and back and deerfly guts all over my hair. But, I felt good and it was a good run regardless. 8070

I've logged 188 since starting my Nike+ running obsession. If 3/3/09 is the cutoff date for starting the count then it would be 72 Miles.
8286 or 8170

Let's go with 8170, as that's since the start of the thread. Thanks for the contribution!
Are you planning to run the upcoming Nike+ Human Race (I believe it's on Oct 24)?
Yes, they do. My son and I take turns swatting them off each other's back. I can't wait for the first frost to kill them off.Originally posted by: InflatableBuddha
Do they bite right through your shirt too?
