Great run Scorch!

Put in 10 relaxed miles today. First time I've done double digits in a long while, felt good.

Congrats Scorch - that's an awesome performance and a very quick time!

Skipped my run today but went for a long hike with friends to the base of the Lions in Squamish, BC (7 hours total). Cleared out the sinuses nicely .

12 today. 3 in the morning plus 9 in the evening, with 5 barefoot. Strangely enough, I couldn't even tell that I raced yesterday. I felt freaking amazing today, and ran a bit quicker than I should have. I couldn't help it though; I have not the vocabulary to describe how unstoppable and free I felt when I was running unshod on the soft grass today. I even felt good after I put my running shoes back on to trod home; usually I feel clunky and cumbersome after going barefoot but I still felt good. Very odd... we'll see how I feel tomorrow

5 miles this morning. I was so fucking sick and congested yesterday so I rested, but I woke up feeling much better this morning and I thought I'd try a short run. No chills anymore, just a head cold, so it'll be fine to thrash through this.

After all, I have to keep at it if I'm going to keep Scorch honest .

5 today. Headed out with the intent of hitting 4 or 5 6:45s, but when I looked at my watch and saw I 6:04 for the first mile I decided to make it a workout day Followed with a 5:35 and a 5:49 then cooled it down with a couple 7:45s

I did my hilly, 9 mile route today! My ribs still don't feel "right" but it did feel better than the last run I did last week. Oh and I've lost 2 pounds already.

Decided to go for my track workout tonight. Not a good call.

Did 5 x 1600m with 3 minutes recovery (5:20, 5:19, 5:17, 5:16, 5:20). The legs were reasonably light and turning over nicely. I had a bit of trouble breathing fully (sore throat, still coughing a bit and still a bit congested) but wasn't hurting too badly.

I got home, ate a bit and hydrated, then stretched. As I was making dinner, I suddenly felt really chilled all over. I threw on more clothes, took some Tylenol and ate my dinner, then had a hot shower. I think I triggered a fever - in any event, my body is rebelling.

I'm forced to rest for a few days now to clear this shit out of my system. With luck, I'll be ok for a Saturday tempo run and Sunday long run, which are the really important workouts this week. This sucks .

9 miles total.

Damn... 5 mile repeates @5:20 or better is smoking... and to think that you're in the midst of battling sickness!

Boston is gonna be sweet! How many people are aiming to go on here? Mega, Scorch, IB, myself? Raging, MooGoo, Garfield?

I'd love to go eventually, but for now my focus is on trail ultras. But I'll check to see if the Can Lake 50 is a BQer on race day, not that I will be able to BQ on the hills of that race...

Haha, yea they were decent, but I'm paying for it today. Fevers suck.

I will definitely be registering for Boston!

Side note: I hit a personal milestone last night - 20,000 km life-time! Halfway around the world...now on to the second half!

Another 2 week update post for me:

3 + 4 + 11 = 18 to round out that last week
7 + 5 + 3 + 19 = 34 that second week
4 + 5 the past two days = 9 this week. Have a 20K on Sat + 6 miles before the 20K, and then a 5K on Sunday. But will log those once I actually run them

Haha, I just got a phone call from the doctor's office. They took x-rays last friday and it turns out that I did break a rib after all. The sixth rib on the right side. They told me no running or strenuous activity for 4 to 6 weeks. She didn't know what to say when I told her I had been running already and was going to be running an ultra in just 3 weeks. So, be careful out there kids.

Sure thing dude. Hope you're cleared to run!!!

800m repeats today. 3 miles up, 8 of them in 2:41, 2:43, 2:42, 2:40, 2:40, 2:40, 2:39, 2:34 with 400m jogs, 3 miles down. 12 total. Felt pretty decent, despite my calf still feeling tight when I'm not running, it behaved fine while I was running. 10,181

got a question for you guys, i've not worked up much this past week and a half. After going to the ER last wed morning, then since this weekend feeling like crap from sinuses, i've just not had the motivation/energy. Do you guys run/workout while you're sick? i find it very hard to even run half of my normal 3 miles while sick, but i do think it helps me feel better the next day, just hard to get motivated that day to do it. what helps you guys while your not feeling well to get out there and run? I plan to workout tonight, just like i planned to last night lol so we'll see.

Depends on how sick I am. If it's above the neck, then sure, a good run definitely clears me me out. However, when I had the flu last spring I was down and out for a couple days, and running was not even a thought for me at that point.
