Yup, I just let my mind wander when I run. Some of my best long runs have gone by without me even really noticing because I was just woolgathering the entire time. As Mega said, this is easier to do on trails; you have to always be scanning for potential hazards, and the scenery is better and changes more often. Trails also seem to go by faster because you're not just running on one straight stretch of road for what seems like miles; you have hills and curves and turns and lots of things like that to keep you occupied.
I did another 4 miles with Ashlie last night after she got out of work. Then, instead of going out with either of my two friends who called me, I went to bed at 9:30. I'm so old!!!! But I have a long run planned today (last 20+ miler before the marathon) so I didn't want to be dehydrated and lacking sleep this morning. 10,787
