Perhaps OP might make some clarification at the top of the thread regarding positive and negative aspects such as apr, cancelation penalties, whether 1st purchase needs to be over $100 or as little as 99-cents?

Thanks

N/M... I didn't realize this thread was so old. We're sorry. This promotion has expired.

I don't know about the APR or cancellation penalties, but the 1st purchase can be any amount (I think). My only purchase before I received the $100 credit was for around $7.

Now, after receiving my $100 credit/adjustment, my outstanding balance is about $-96 (I paid off my $7 charge earlier).

I'd say it's a pretty low-hassle deal.

I signed up in early May, just got the $100 last week. I used the info they give you at the end of the sign-up process to buy a CD at sonystyle for a qualifying purchase. However, I for got to activate the card for a couple months, so that may be why the credit was delayed.

Now we have somebody claiming he signed up and got the $100 twice? The rootkit deal is really costing them. I'm using their money to buy gas, myself.

Heading over to check out the double sign-up possibilities.

I certainly don't see anything about one per person or one per household or anything. I'm going to sign up again with a different email and phone. Rules of offer, note the begin and end dates. Introductory APR 0%. I'll never buy anything with the card after I use up the credit anyway, so who cares. Too bad they handled that rootkit deal so poorly both before and aftyer it was discovered. I'll always be looking for a way to rip those jerks. see http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2005/10/sony-rootkits-and-digital-rights.html for details of how Sony treats their customers. Fvck Sony. I've been buying their stuff for 30 years, then they pull this crap. Again, Fvck Sony.

Hey, maybe the same isiot that set up their rootkit install deal whote the mainframe software that forgets to check for duplicate sign-ups? that would be great.

That's what I figured it would key on, but others reported success. Should have had the wife sign up.

I got my card and I charged ~$3 on it. Now for the waiting game...

I will cash the convenience check for the balance on my other card, and pay off my other card. This effectively transfers the balance to my new 0% Sony Card, and getting the $100 credit should reduce my balance by ~$80 (3% fee for transfers).

Now, my logic could be flawed. Chase might not allow the $100 credit to work on a balance transfer. I guess we'll see.

I got my check for $100--I requested the credit to be mailed to me. Also, they sent me a offer for the payment protection plan. I have no balance and am planning to cancel the card but for $20 extra I'll keep the card one more month .

When did you get the option or notification you were getting the credit?

I made my first purchase right after I got the card, and I have my first statement now, but I still do not see anything that says I will get a credit.

How long did it take?

Thanks!

I love these deals. I got 2 business am ex cards and I don't even have a business and they each gave 250$ for free (that deal is over btw). I just cancelled the one that has an annual fee after the first year and they informed me I had 5000 reward points for signing up, which got me a free 50$ gift card at any of a ton of stores. It feels good when you pretty much get 50$ for cancelling a card you never really used. This year I will have made 650$ on just signing up for 3 credit cards.
