It is coated so that if you have one of the printers they show in the combo in the link you can place the cd on a tray and print right onto the disk and not have to do lables anymore. And if you have lableless dvd/cd's put the lable on it and print right onto it attached to the disk and you dont ever have to set up your printer for lables again. Also no more off centered lables either.

1. No you need a printer that is set up to print on Discs.

2. Price I already gave you in the OP

3. I have been using non printable Legacy dvds and out of the 50 or so I have already done I threw away one so I think I will be happy with these and not have to use lables.

To the guy that said stay away I dont see why I should. I been using the non printable ones and like I said havent had much more then one bad burn. For the price to throw away ratio I am more then happy with these myself. And to be quite honest I one time went for the big name brand ones (maxell) and they sucked big time. Couldnt get them to burn if my life depended on it and even at the lowest set speed. I have been buying nothing but the cheapest I can find and I have saved a ton. I have several that are years old and still play with no problems so I dont listen really to the its cheap stay away crap anymore.

FunBoy42 and I both have the Epson R200. I highly recommend it for all purpose printing and its incredible CD/DVD prints. They use 6 different ink tanks for high quality colors. The printer runs about $100.

I get all my ink through swift ink. Its not oem but the prints are bery close. Right now it cost me $5.95 for blacks and $6.95 for colors. If quality inks are not your thing then megatoners sells the blacks @ $3.95 and $2.95 I believe.

I do CDs and DVDs, but also regular paper stuff. I have printed about a dozen disks and maybe 20 pages and the carts are at about 70%. 50 discs sounds about right for the cartridge life.

I use Epson R200 and R300 only for DVDs and usually get more than 100 per set of ink carts.
Paper uses more ink than disc. Pics on photo paper use load of ink.

I'm not the "guy" but just because they burn fine doesn't mean they are quality media. These will stop playing in 1-2 years because of their quality. Maxell, Imation, CompUsa, Staple,.... aren't brand name. They are rebadged media mostly CMC. If their media didn't work for you, probably a better burner would do the trick.

If you burn something thats worth keeping over 2 years then Taiyo Yuden and Ritek would be the solution.

I've printed about 100 dvd/cds so far, and I'm at about the half way point.
Maybe it's because I'm still on the original cartridges and they last longer (highly doubt it though)???

I dont believe this because I have been using cheap media since my first burner. I have stuff that is over 4-5 years old on cheap media. Its all I have bought. If it costs me over $25 including shipping then that is my max to speed for 100 of them. Untill recently I been broke pretty much my whole life and a cheap skate. And now that I have some cash I will still continue to buy the cheaper media. I havent had any problems and they last for years for me. I just dont get cought up in the must have name brand or brain washed into thinking this brand is better then the other.

Its so cheap that I will get it test it out and if it works I got my moneies worth. And so far I havent had one problem with cheap media and the one time I bought name brand I was making coaster left and right (maxell) so cheap is fine with me. I will save my money and get 200 to your 100. Fine by me

One thing I do watch out for with cheap media though is who I buy from. I have gotten cheap media that ahss been poorly packed that shifted durring shipping and caused scratches on the disks from them rotating around and could not burn on them because of the scratches. So if you do get cheap media make sure the company you get them from packs very well. Companies I have bought from that suck at packing is shop 4 teck and all media outlet. I have tried them several times and sometimes its packed well and most of the time it wasnt messing up 25% of my disks. I have since been buying from newegg and haven had one packing problem. If you buy from these companies LOOK at your discs. Open the box and you see all that room and a wad of toilet paper in there check your discs and you will see what I am talking about and I will bet anything that that is why some people cannt burn the cheap stuff because of poor packing and scratched up from the begining.
