THAT IS A GREAT DEAL, I JUST GOT MY VISA DEBIT CARD WITH $150 ON IT. IT'S STILL GREAT FOR $100 FOR FIVE MINUTES OF EFFORT.

Edit: I just tried to get another promotion from Sony. it turned out to be from Chase and they called me and reminded me i already had five accounts with them that are inactive, so they didn't want to do it.

Hmmm... should I whore my credit rating and get another gift card?? (And yes, I've gotten multiple cards from the same credit card company before).

I don't like the idea of whoring out my credit rating... It's practically impossible to build credit as it is without losing a bunch of points through applications =\

I don't think you lose that many points for an application. I have like 10+ credit cards and my score is pretty much at a stand still.

I disagree, I don't thing having too many cards is that bad for your credit rating. What is bad is not paying your bills or living beyond your means. My having about six cards didn't seem to hurt my credit rating at all.

does it affect your credit if you open and close a credit card account within a year. i opened a citibank AT&T rewards card a while back, got their $100 giftcards, and now want to close it as i have no need for it. its been about 8 months or so since i signed up for it.

You can search the net for more info, but generally having a lot of credit cards is not bad for your ratings. A lot of factors, such as an excessive number of applications in a short period of time, can adversely affect your credit. But the overwheliming factor is your ontime payment and your credit to outstanding debt ratio.

If you have excellent credit already -- opening a new credit card will have virtually no affect on your credit score.

yeah, thats wht i thought. NEVER a single late payment. Credit to debt ratio is 1/0.
I applied...but got the msg most ppl were getting, a response back in few days or so.
I also applied for amazon.coma nd buy.com cards...which gave me instant 30 bucks off, which i hava already used. gonna cancel those cards now.

Waiting till www.annualcreditreport.com is available for NC residents, so I can keep checking my credit time to time for FREE.

Alright, I don't have a CC.
If I charge one thing .. get this gift card (and pay off my balance) will I be charged anything if I keep it empty? What is the APR on this card?

Nope. You can cancel it right away after receiveing ur gift card

Edit: I mean if you keep it, you WONT get charged. But you also have the option of cancelling it if you dont want it.

I'd like one credit card for emergency purposes, this one seems good for that. So if I were to apply, I would not have any fees at all if nothing was charged (except my one purchase that I would pay asap)

hmm, i might have to give this one a go when i have time.

is it bad if i dont cancel my cards. i probably have like 10-15 cards ranging from retail, clothings, and bank that i never canceled and just chunk in my will never use again drawer.

i use 3 main cards, my discover card, shell mastercard, and amex blue. my credit rating seems fine and each time i apply i seem to get more money

i never had a late payment and payment always been on time.

So lame that it's not available to NY residents...gotta thank the dopey politicians who came up with that restriction.
