What if you make a $98.76 charge on the GC so that there's only $1.24 left on it. How do you spend that small remainder so that you don't have to pay the maintenance fee?

So as far as I understand...

1) Apply for card
2) Use card for purchase over 25 dollars.
3) Wait six weeks for GC to arrive.
4) Use GC within six months so you don't get monthly maintenance fees.
5) Cancel card, done deal.

How do you find out your APR? I got mine but it has a 1.9% on balance transfers and cash advances. I don't see the APR clearly spelled out for regular purchases.

Thanks for the deal! Now I just need to activate, buy something, and enroll online to pay it.

This will make my video card upgrade much more affordable. I got in on the (not this deal) Citi card deal and I'm hoping the gift card will at least work at for $100 at Circuit City. If so, video card + a Happauge PVR 150. WahoO!

Doh! Thanks.

I applied and I got the "must wait for approval" too but it showed up in the mail after 3-5 days. Fast! I didn't call either.

It doesn't say $25 for your first purchase but supposedly a Schwab/MBNA CSR once said that. So just in case my first purchase was like $29.99 @ OfficeMax, something like that.

You get a VISA card with 16 digits and has $100 value, so you can use it anywhere VISA credit cards are accepted. I would not recommend using it at a gas station, restaurant, hotel, car rental or plane ticket purchase. Just buy something at Best Buy, grocery store, Walmart, CompUSA, anywhere that accepts VISA cc's.

Why not the gas Station? Just add up all your reciepts and don't go over $100, but I don't think you can go over on a gift card.

Cause gas stations put a "hold" on your credit card for an amount in excess of what you actually pay at the pump....and then adjust a few days later when the pump transactions are calculated. With a fixed $100 card that hold may exceed the amount you have on the card and will at any rate tie up that hold amount so you can't spend it on the card for a few days.

Just so everyone knows, if you got in on the $150 deal you're still eligible for the $100. Maybe this is common knowledge for y'all, but I asked this q back on page 2, didn't get a response, decided to give it a go anyway and just got off the phone with "Paul" who said I should be expecting it about 4 weeks after my 1st purchase. Thanks, Paul!

Got mine in the mail yesterday, woohoo. A couple of questions (from the terms and conditions):

1. There is a $5.95 "Open Fee". I take it that is waived and the value is $100 exactly?

2. "You may not make purchases that exceed the balance of funds available." Is that true? What if you want to buy some worth $200 and pay the balance with cash/Visa, etc.?

3. How does a clerk at the register know the balance on the card? When scanned does it show the balance?

Thanks.
