Cpu:

$199.99

Ram:

$64.99

Motherboard:

$139.99

Video Card:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-...e=UTF8&qid=1463032241&sr=1-1&keywords=gtx+950

$139.99

Total = $544.96

It might be slightly over your price range, but you could also just use the onboard graphics and drop the video card altogether.

And if you drop the video card, i'd recommend picking up an SSD instead as it'll really make your pc much faster overall:

http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX200...UTF8&qid=1463032672&sr=1-5&keywords=500gb+ssd

$139.99

The onboard HD 530 graphics are more than sufficient for video editing and normal tasks.

You would need $500 for the motherboard alone, and another couple hundred for the ECC ram. It cost me $300 to buy one Xeon and a used Asus Sabretooth motherboard.

I would prefer to go with more cores i7 or xeon. I do a lot of multitasking.

I just saw this youtube video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b-01q09bLU

$59.70 price of INTEL-XEON-E5-2670 @ http://www.ebay.com/itm/SR0KX-INTEL...Hz-20M-8GT-s-115W-PROCESSOR-CPU-/281889330127

Would it be possible to go with 2 Xeon CPUs (Used)

Your best bet in that price range is a single CPU pre-built PC. Those motherboards are really hard to find or really expensive, especially dual-socket motherboards. Some prebuilt PCs can be had for less than $500 shipped, but will still need a GPU.

daveybrat's build is good. $500 is a small budget, you really cant do much better. also, i doubt you will feel the 6500 is not enough - it's a beast of a chip.

somehow i suspect the OP is not into professional video editing - i'd think he would mention it. in which case there is really no reason to get a xeon, an i7, or any 6-core cpu.

ugh .. not the best build.
you don't need a CPU cooler with a 6500 as it does not overclock, therefore the stock intel heatsink is fine.
also, you do not need a Z170 mobo because, spoiler alert, the cpu does not overclock.
he's already got a mechanical HDD, so just double the SSDs and you have 1.5Tb storage, which is plenty for a start.
