Don't worry about it too much. It's a passing feeling. If it makes you feel better I'm sure those 1000 people all feel you're (metaphorically) dead to them too.

That's why I do not get friends in temporary situations, most of the time. If I do, they are nothing undisposable.

Interesting way to put it... I haven't kept in touch with more than a few of my friends from high school and they were my closest friends. The kinds of people that I will know till the day I die.

I think you're stretching it a little far, but at the same time, you're more correct than you are wrong. Graduating high school and leaving behind hundreds of familiar faces is just a thing of life. I'm a junior in college now, and going from high school to college was the biggest dividing line in my life. Once students graduate and leave their houses to be on their own, it really brings out the real person in them over the next few years. That said, everybody matures on their own and at their own pace, and goes their own seperate ways. What I'm leading up to is that out of the 100-200 people that I at least said 'hi' to in the halls, or who were friends, I stay in touch with maybe 10 of them to this day... no more than 5 on a regular basis, and they're not even the ones that I would have called my best friends either back then. Life's funny.

Get your good friends on AIM or your preferred chat client- it's an invaluable program for this time in your life, and be upbeat. It's just time for another leap of considerable distance in your life, and we all did it. On the bright side, ever since I left high school and that 'previous life', I've been a better person, matured even more, and am having the best time of my life, with arguably even better people than I knew in high school. Congratulations on your graudation- it's still a big stepping stone in life. Now you can start planning your sucessess and plot revenge for the reunion on all the people that gave you crap in high school! Well, at least that's what I'm doing...

Enjoy.

Of the roughly 140-160 people who graduated in my class (I can't remember the exact number), I never intended to keep in touch with any more than perhaps five of them, and I did for about four years.

I have not corresponded with or even seen anyone from my high school in over four years. hehe

Real friends don't die. That is, people you actually care enough for that you would put your life on the line for never leave you. I had 850+ in my graduating class and I can honestly say that maybe 4 of them I would actually risk my life for. There are some things that should be taken seriously, one of them is brotherhood. All those people who "died" since you graduated are just people. If you care enough about them, keep in touch.

PPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Graduating != 1000 accquaintances dying.(Translated, Graduation NOT equal to 1000 accquaintances dead)

Graduation is a happy time when one should look forward to exciting time at college (arguably the most fun time of life) while
1000 dead = not so happy.

At this stage in one's life, it feels like your HS friends are the most important things in the world, sometimes even more than your relatives.

It's rare for anyone to lose 1000 familiar faces or accquaintances unless you're a doorman/lift operator at the Twinn Towerrs.

As times go by, as priorities change, it'll be clear your family & relatives are the dearest to you.
disclaimer there may be exceptions - my family screwed me while my friends came through, etc.

If I were to meet 2 of my best friends from HS in person today, I would love hanging out with them just as much. But would you love them just as much after not seeing/hearing from them for MORE than 10 yrs?

If by unlikely chance one gets expelled or decides to discontinue with HS, it is still not a situation doomed enough that you should stop seeing your friends nor your friends stop seeing you. I am sure some of the choices are inevitable.

Take care Worth.

Here's something to look forward to....you know that knock-out who wouldn't give you the time of day? Put twenty years on her, still not bad, she's now divorced. Meet her in a bar somewhere, a lonely friday night, both of you a little drunk. Pretty soon you're both sixteen again with raging hormones. You're not a nurd anymore. Score one up. Happened to me.

Even better, the high school 'knock-out' looks as though she's been dragged by a truck after 20 years, and the girl who was shunned because she was fat and dumpy looking turns into a freaking hottie! That's always a gas.

All of them? You didn't try to make friends? Anyways, I am gonna be a senior next year, and am not really looking forward to graduation. I have made too many friends that I know I won't keep in contact with that many of them.

Of course, I did try and I do have friends. But it was just the general attitude. I was happy to graduate b/c I alsways want smth and somebody new.
