ok, someone help me out here

I put the coupon code in the promotional code area, but when I click Continue the coupon doesn't show up as being applied?

What did I do wrong, I've tried all 3 that I can find.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm a moron. Turns out CompGeeks doesn't show you the math. I guess the expect you to be smart enough to figure it out. Me = not smart enough

Not bad at all. Unfortunately, I already have 2 crimpers and a tester. Cat5e from Home Depot is about $55. This a good deal just for the cat5 cable? What does 1000' normaly go for?

Folks, just keep in mind that this is solid core Cat5. This makes it EXTREMELY difficult to crimp correctly, really increasing your chance of a bad connection. It's really designed to be punched down on patch panels and jacks. Solid core is also designed to be pulled in a wall, then left fairly static. If it gets moved around too much, solid core wire has a habit of breaking.

Nearly all commercial patch cords uses stranded cable, which is much easier to deal with and not prone to breaking one of the wires.

Not trying to thread crap here, but just be careful you're buying this for the right thing.

Cat5 is spec'ed to 100 METERS, not 100 feet.

I'm in! I spoke with the neighbor, who wants to share our internet connection, and explained that a hard wired connection for $44 vs. a $150+ wireless connection, is not only faster, but more secure.

How weatherproof is regular ol' cat5 cable?
By that, I mean, most wire sheathing can't withstand much sunlight before breakdown. There are also bacteria in the soil that will eat certain plastics, over time. Electrical wiring intended for outdoor use has a special formulation. Does anyone have any experience with long-time use of cat5 outdoors?

I'd like to re-do all the phone wiring in and around my house to improve signal quality. The phone lines after the box are my responsibility and they're getting mighty long in the tooth. With broadband, I'd also benefit from a cleaner signal from the twisted pair configuration. I replaced the wires at my old house, but they were all in the basement ceiling. Now, I have a crawl space and wires running along the siding.

Thanks.
