Those are 100 lb plates.

We have them at my gym. Makes for a lot less work when loading up a leg press.

wouldn't it make sense to have spotters that can actually hold the weight if you can't?

Before you say he is wearing it for safety (I'm sure that is part of it), it is clear the shirt provides a lot more than safety. Mendelson is the one who impresses me lifting 715 pounds without any special shirt.

You're an idiot. When it comes to lifting extreme weights like these, all lifters will wrap their joints. Whether it's squatters who wrap their knees, or benchlifters who do their shoulders.

To me, it looked like the guys on the extreme ends of the bar were holding it the entire time.

Granted, that may have resulted in a 900 pound vs. 1000pound lift...but still...I don't think he did it.

BTW, I can bench press a whole 200 pounds ONCE. So I ain't bragging!!!

That guy was built like a bull. I really doubt the man's spotters actually touched the bar until the very end though...

I once did 900lbs on a leg press machine. I couldn't imagine how that much weight would feel on the arms.

do u have a link to this...im not into any form of body building power lifting, but i do enjoy watchin worlds strongest man an stuff like that....and whats it called.....the body building thing like what arnold schwarzenegger used to do

i only do light gym work, and mostly stuff like medicine balls, stretch cordz and gym ball work for swimming....you need to be able to move your arms with freedom...unlike this guy

also how does the shirt help?

Exactly, he could not lift a 1000lbs raw. The bench shirt is creating a spring effect to help force the weight back up. That is why his shoulders in the video looked like they are being pulled together (because they are!).

You're the idiot if you think I was say he should lift this weight without protecting his joints. Read a little closer and improve your comprehension.

The shirt was designed to have a bounce affect when the bar hit his chest making it easier to lift. Mendelson lift 715lbs without any special shirt (but still wearing protective gear).

The shirt is designed to bounce the weight back up when the bar hits his chest. In fact, there has to be enough weight on the bar for it even to reach his chest. This same guy couldn't do a 900lbs lift because the shirt wouldn't let it reach him.
