<< In defense of Sam's, they're willing to sell you the drive, just not pull it and hold it for you unless you commit to a $250 purchase. I look at it like a sandwich shop that offers free delivery for orders over $10. Spend enough and you get an extra service. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me. >>

>>

Lets see, I can order anything from Bestbuy online and pick it up at the store... no minimum required. Sams lost a sale from me on this because I'm not about to add stuff to the order just so I could buy the drive. And I'm not about to drive all the way there just to find they don't have any.

SEND in the UPC part of the label on the WD sticker. Why would you risk NOT getting a $100 rebate...what could you use the UPC for by keeping it?

Is it just me? Whats the big deal...SEND it in.

I disagree. Just read the instructions, they are written in clear English and require only the rebate receipt and a properly filled rebate form. Make copies of everything you send and you'll be fine.

Yep, no UPC needed.... BTW- in Colorado the Arvada store has 15 left and in Denver the Broadway store has 11 stocked.

Uh,... guys? Please go back and reread my earlier posts... Click n' pull works out just fine. All you have to do is order 2 of the drives, or something else to get you over the $250 mark, submit the order, and then after they send you the "pulled order" confirmation, show up at the store and "suddenly change your mind" after they tell you that the rebate is limited to one....

Worked like a charm for me, and no problems/questions asked when I got there....

My Dominoes has free delivery for all pizzas ( >$10 or not ). My chinese places have a $10 minimum. They know they are losing business. THEY DO NOT CARE. If Sams cared they would lower it to $200 or $150.

don't hate me for only having partial details, but I recall receiving a 10% Sams club coupon when my bf moved in with me a few months ago. It was in one of those moving packages and I don't remember all of the details because I gave it to my sister (she has a Sams near her, we don't).

My point is if you can get ahold of one of those coupons it's worth about $20 on this drive!

Got my drive today!! $100.00 MIR, $10.00 off by renewing my membership!! $109.00 +tax.

I even went ahead and bought a extended warranty to keep the drive good for 4 years.. couldn't be it since 50% of the extended price was already paid for.

Nice to see 100Gig (95.6) show up on the ol' desktop.

Combined with a 60G USB external, I'm set!!

Checked Samsclub tonight online and I could put 4 of these into my cart, so there are still some available online, apparently, for anyone who still wants one. Mine has been cooking for a week in my son's Duron 850 and it rocks.

Just to make sure, this deal is still good? I'm thinking about getting a new drive.......anybody know if the Madison Heights or Utica store has any in stock?

Evil Yoda:
No, they do not have it in stock. I suggest you order online, or keep checking click & pull for those stores, as they might get them restocked. Only "local" store to have them recently is Waterford (according to click & pull)

Thanks man, appreciate it. I really hope I get in on this deal.....if you hear anything new, let me know. Is there any way to get the store to hold one? I don't know too much about Sams these days.

Well I don't have an account, my mother does, and I can't get her ID til tomorrow. Do you know if I'll be able to register my credit card under her membership online? I just posted a pretty silly WTB in the FS forum, hoping someone would sell one to me. I just hope I can get in on this deal, I've been waiting for a new HD for a while.

Just called the rebate center 866.804.7267

Very coherent CSR said YES - ONE DAY PASSES are elgible, just copy the membership # off the receipt. Yes, there is a membership # on the receipt and a message indicating that a one day pass was used!!!

Can anyone confirm that this will work? and sorry for my ignorance but how do i get a one day pass?

This is a sweet deal but keep in mind tax, in most cases it will be around $15 added (taxed amount is $219). If not a member than add membership fees.
Total becomes 135 with rebate and membership, higher without membership.

The Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80GB 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive for $129 (Price: $ 179.00, After Rebate: $ 129.00), no tax, no shipping and handling - at
Outpost.com seems like a nice alternative. Slightly higher in price per gig but no headaches with non-existant stock and don't have to deal with SAMS.

The Seagate is super quiet too. There was another post about this, Seagate Barracuda IV 80GB $129 after rebate

You may want to compare and ask yourself - do you really need that extra 20 gigs??

Good point on the tax, I think it's unfair that you are taxed on the initial not rebate price. Also Outpost now adds sales tax for three states so you may still be taxed when purchasing from from them.

Also keep in mind:

Sam's has been no hassle for many. I just stopped in and got one out of a pile of 20 on my way home for work. In comparison missing the UPS man can be a real hassle.

Also, in addition to 20 more GB the WD is simply faster according to www.storagereview.com.

So if speed, size and convenience matter the WD is a no brainer selection for many.

OTOH if a few DB of sound float your fluid bearing boat go for the Seagate!

Can someone post a direct link to the rebate? I'm not a member so I can't access it. I might use a guest pass to buy one so I wanna read the fine print on it. Thanx.
