$1000/month is cheap considering that a dedicated T1 line costs $1500/month here where I live. Of course, that defeats the purpose since I probably couldn't get in on the deal anyway . I'm sure if you ran a smart business you could make up the investment in a year or so being a webhost.

Just get road runner. I have road runner here for 40 bux a month shared between 6 people and i can get 200kb/s + anytime of the day off a good site. The upload is shieet but who cares. For a littel over 5 dollars a month good deal.

It's not really $1000 bucks a month. I heard it was at least like $3 grand. There were a few posts about this on dslreports a while ago, I'm pretty sure before cyberwings. It costs like $2 grand for each loop or something like that.

Heres some info about CogentCo:

1. It's $1,000 for personal use, otherwise, it's $3,000

2. You have to be in a major metropoltian area

3. If your not in one of there "lit" building (mainly high rises), then you will have to pay out ragousley high local loop fees

This could cost you well over $10,000 if you don't live in one of there "lit" building.

BTW, you can get 1 GBPS from them for $10,000 a month for personal use or $30,000 for ISP's. HTH!

Cogent is probably one of THE worst transit providers in the US. They're cheap for that reason. They keep data in their network as long as possible, even if it means crossing the country several times. Avoid like the plague.

Pfffft... Cogent is probably the worst provider you could go with for a business. They may be cheap but their routing is horrible. I guess it wouldn't really matter for home use though.
